Service Block Grant) and EFSP (Emergency Food and Shelter Program) funding sources. I found
out that there are payments that can be paid using CSBG, EFSP, or both, depending on the
reason to the need and the amount of funds available from that funding source. On Tuesday, I
went with my supervisor and coworkers to the central office because they were having training
for EFSP (Emergency Food and Shelter Program). This training went over the summary of the
program and all the components needing when completing applications and payments when
using this funding sources. I also did a water application for a client and entered the client into
the system since they had never worked with the Ninth District before. I did not enter the
payment for that client as I was not sure what the payment would be given that the payments for
water are not the same as the payments for heating/cooling applications. On Wednesday, I was
given a LIHEAP (Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program) form to complete for a client.
After doing so, I entered the payment into the system before giving it to my supervisor to sign
and staple. A while later, I was given a client’s documents to complete a water application. After
filling out all the information for all of the necessary documents, I entered the payment into the
system and handed the all the documents plus the application to my coworker to sign. On
Thursday, I started the day by entering a case note into the system as I was asked to do so by my
supervisor. There was no task given to be to complete, so I began to type what I had done each
day of this week. An incident occurred before lunch where I was asked to leave the office,
therefore that was the completion of my day. On Friday, due to me being asked to leave
previously on Thursday, I was not able to come back on Friday, but I hope there is some place
This week, I have not had the best feelings. The week started off with me barely being
able to walk on my right foot due to a swollen toe just to end with me being asked to leave over
what I consider a misunderstanding. I am aware that there had been a previous intern that had
given the company a bad review in her evaluation, however, I have no ill feeling towards the
organization because what they do and stand for is great. It is important to aid low-income
individuals who truly need it. However, I understand that everyone does not think as I do, so
something I say may come off as negative, despite that not being my intention. I will not allow
for this to detour me from my goal, which is to finish this internship after all the hard work I
have put in over the past 3 years. If given the opportunity, I am going to continue my internship,
however I will not allow myself to get too comfortable. I can be a very funny person to be
around and would to be able to be that way around those I will spend my day with. However, I
do not feel like I am able to do that now nor do I feel comfortable doing so anymore. I hope to
push through the rest of the summer with my only focus being on finishing up my degree.
