Earling’s Class
Schedule

Conferences and NO S CH OOL on Mo nda y, Febru ary 15 th , due to Presidents’ Day. Parent-
Teacher conferences are scheduled for Tu esd a y, Feb rua ry 9 th , from 3:00-7:00 P M a nd
Wed nesd ay, Feb rua ry 10 th , fro m 3: 00-7: 00 PM . Attached you will find a sign-up sheet

Reading
February 5th is the end of the 2nd Trimester, and we hope to have a lot of students
in our class as members of the Chap ter R ea d er Clu b (students read independently and
pass tests on three chapter books) by then. We have several students that are already a
Chapter Reader. YEA!!! Congratulations to those students who are Chapter readers! The
rest of the class will be working hard on Reading this month!
Please continue to have your child read at home. If the books your child reads or
you read to your child are AR books, your child can test on those books here at school and
they will count toward his/her AR goal. I appreciate your help and encouragement with AR
at home.
Please continue to turn in your Reading Calendars, so I can write out a certificate
for a FREE Personal Pan Pizza for your child. The students’ Reading Goal is 20 minutes per
school night (5 nights a week), which was 380 minu tes fo r J anua ry and is 360 m inu tes
fo r Feb rua ry . Also, please remember to add up your child’s reading minutes and put it at
the top of the calendar in the place given. Thank you for your help with this matter.

Math
We are enjoying our Harcourt Math program, and we’ll continue working on money
and time next week. I’m pleased with everyone’s progress!
Additionally, our school has placed on emphasis on BASIC FACTS. Please help your
child practice addition and subtraction facts at home. Thanks for your help!

Socia l S tudies
February is Black History Month, Dental Health Month, and Random Acts of Kindness
Month--AND Presidents’ Day is on February 15th. We will learn a little about all of these
things this month.

Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day will be celebrated on Thursday, February 11th. Students in our class
may bring valentines and treats to share with friends as long as they bring one for
EV ERY ONE in our class. I do not want anyone left out. We will make envelopes here for
the Valentines received by classmates, and we’ll have a party on Thursday from 12:00-1:00
p.m. If you would like to provide treats for the party or help in anyway, please contact
me. Thank you for your help!

Confe rence Schedule

Parent-Teacher conferences are scheduled for Tuesday, February 9 th ,

from 3:00-7:00 PM and Wednesday, February 10 th , from 3:00-7:00 PM . I
would like to schedule the majority of our conferences on Tuesday, February 9 th ,
from 3:00-7:00 p.m. if possible. Please sign up for your top three choices, on
the table below, and I will try to give you one of those times. If you cannot make it
on Tuesday, sign up for your top three choices, on the table for Wednesday, and I
will try to give you one of those times. I will send home a confirmation slip of your
