Visit Crossroads: Crossroads Gteborg is an advice and support center for EU citizens and people with permanent residence permit from another EU country, staying in Gothenburg Region. The center provides information about your rights, obligations and opportunities and can help you in establishing contacts with Public Employment Service, Social Services, Consulates, etc. Drop-in hours 9-12 Mon-Fri We who have done this guide are EU migrans from different countries in Europe. It is compiled out of our experiences and developed through a workshop activity at Crossroads, supported by Gteborgs Kyrkliga Stadsmission. Searching for a job

You need a Samordningsnummer (coordination number) when working in Sweden! Apply for it at Arbetsfrmedlingen. As an EU citizen you always have the right to a Samordningsnummer, which is not the same as the personnummer (personal number). Crossroads will help with job searching, job applications and CV writing. At Arbetsfrmedlingen you can get registered as a jobbseeker.

Health care
With a European Health Insurance Card you have the right to emergency health care at Vrdcentraler (Healthcare centres) and hospitals. There are plenty of health care centres in Gteborg. In the city centre theres Vrdcentralen Kungshjd at Kaserntorget 11 A . If you do not have a European Health Insurance Card you can get emergency healthcare at: Vrdcentral fr hemlsa (Healthcare centre for homeless)

Personnummer
You might get a personnummer at Skatteverket if: -

You have a work contract You live with your partner (sambo) who has a personnummer Youve got a residence permit for 2 years (uppehllstillstnd) You can show that you can maintain yourself economically

At Matteuskyrkans pre-school (see below) you can get information about healthcare for children.

Childrens care
At Matteuskyrkan in Majorna there is a pre-school for children to EU migrants. Gteborgs Rddningsmission is responsible for the project and they also assist children in schoolgoing age. Open Mon-Fri 9-15

Bank Account
You need a bank acount when working. Many banks ask for personnummer or work contract so you might need to try different banks. Try for example NORDEA, SWEDBANK, SEB or HANDELSBANKEN.

Learning Swedish
Crossroads: free lessons 3 days a week between 13h - 15h Sprkcafet: Coffehouse for language practicing and meeting people Public libraries: there are talking language groups. SFI: Free Swedish courses, you need to have a personnummer SAS: Continuation of SFI, you need to have a personnummer Frlsningsarmn: free lessons in ENGLISH
