Redesign Plan
History
Wheaties is a General Mills brand cereal that was created in 1922. It was created by accidentally spilling several different kinds of bran in a hot pot on a stove. it has always been one of my favorite cereals. Over 36 attempts were made to make it and finally it was. The cereal was named Washburns Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flakes at the beginning, as a result of an employee contest won by the wife of a company export manager, Jane Bausman.

Big Idea
My big idea for this product is tototally re-do the design of both the logo and the colors, but also what the cereal will go in. I have always dis-liked cereal boxes. You open them and you have that silly tab to close the box that always rips. My idea is to put the cereal in a round, plastic container so that you can seal it and the cereal will stay fresh longer.

Target Audience
My target audience will be men ages 18-40. Research shows that men in this age group were the ones who ate the majority of Wheaties

Logos
The Wheaties color logo will be used for the cereal boxes as well as other Wheaties memorabilia such as mugs, shirts and hats. The Black and White logo will be used only for black and white printing, fax, etc. The color logo used for the new packaging should be no more than 5 inches all around and the logo can be as much as 10 inches all around on things like t-shirts. The logo should be centered on the new container and 3 inches from the top.

Orange
TM was created in 1922, as a result of an accidental spill of a wheat bran mixture onto a hot stove by a Minnesota clinician working for the Washburn Crosby Company (later General Mills). By November 1924, after over 36 attempts to strengthen the flakes to withstand packaging, the process for creating the flakes had been perfected by the Washburn head miller, George Cormack, and the cereal was named Washburn's Gold Medal Whole Wheat Flakes. Soon after, the name was changed to Wheaties as a result of an employee contest won by the wife of a company export manager, Jane Bausman.
