The car .ar 1 com.rising 400 s.aces1 has -een -uilt on .art of the e+isting #ains-ur%&s su.ermar et car .ar 1 and on ad5acent undevelo.ed land1 increasing car .ar ing s.aces to 670. , new e+it from the car .ar onto the ringroad has also -een created. This ma5or 87m investment -% the 2istrict Council is the first stage in the redevelo.ment of "untingdon Town Centre1 and es.eciall% Che4uers Court1 made .ossi-le -% the signing of a 2evelo.ment ,greement -etween the council1 #ains-ur%&s and Churchmanor Estates last $a%. The scheme was a design and construct contract carried out -% 9:,",$ Construction1 which has offices throughout the ;< and =reland. The original conce.t was .roduced -% architects Cha.man Ta%lor and these have -een refined -% 3ar-er Casonovas :uffles. The -uilding has -een constructed using .re-cast concrete sections and floor sla-s which means that the floors have an o.en feel with high ceilings and few cross -eams. The tim-er cladding to the e+ternal faces -rea s u. the concrete frame to give a finish that will mellow further with time. >or -egan on site in ?ul% '0131 and the car .ar will -e com.lete and read% to o.en in the first wee of ,.ril. The scheme is -eing funded from develo.ment contri-utions and from future income from the car .ar . The com.letion of this im.ortant car .ar .aves the wa% for develo.ment of Che4uers Court to -egin1 and once the new #ains-ur%s store is com.lete1 the .etrol filling site can -e redevelo.ed.
