i-Bike 4 Kids is on Sunday 25th May. This is a great event for kids who just love being on their bikes! For all ages up to 15 years! TE APITI - MANAWATU GORGE


Have you been out Te Apiti - Manawatu Gorge recently? There are many exciting and new things happening out there, and we are lucky enough to have it right on our doorstep, only 16km from the City centre. Put some of these Must-Dos on your To-Do list!
THE TAWA LOOP This loop track is only 4.1km long and starts at the Ashhurst end of the Manawatu Gorge walk. While being shorter than the main track, this loop still offers a chance to get amongst the stunning native bush, one of the regions last remaining ancient forests. New to the loop track is the installation of the massive Whatonga sculpture, which looms above you as you reach the middle of the track. Check out the viewing platforms too for amazing views out and across to Palmerston North City and beyond. KIWI RANGER Explore, learn and discover the mauri (life force) of Te Apiti - Manawatu Gorge and become an adventurer with the Kiwi Ranger activity booklet. Then, once you have completed the activities in the booklet, youll get a Kiwi Ranger badge to keep! This FREE activity booklet is available from the Palmerston North City i-SITE in The Square, make sure you get yours in time of the school holidays! HORSE TREKKING Head over the Ballance Bridge to Timeless Horse Treks, where youll be matched to a horse suited to your ability. Choose a short ride across farmland and down through the river, or go for an overnight trek and stay in a hill top cabin. For littlies, there is the option of riding in a horse drawn cart. MILKSHAKES AND MORE The Bridge Cafe at the eastern end of the Gorge is a must visit, with tasty milkshakes and a delicious menu of locally sourced food. Kids can explore the sandpit; swings and large garden while mum and dad enjoy a coffee. Located at 91 Gorge Road, over the Ballance Bridge. WALKS FOR LITTLE LEGS Just over the Ballance bridge at the Eastern end of the Gorge youll nd the short 10 minute Loop Track which has been designed with kids and prams in mind. Across the road from this is the Ballance playground, which has a 15-minute bush walk that links up to the Bridge Cafe.
