The Yellow Wallpaper. Masterplots: Short Story Series, Revised Edition. 2004. Literary Reference Center. Web. 3 March 2014 I obtained this source from the Literary Reference Center, which obtained it from Masterplots: Short Story Series. This specific source is a work analysis article; a work analysis is just a piece written by someone that describes, or, goes in detail about what the story is about. This specific source article is mainly about the themes and meanings of The Yellow Wallpaper. One of the themes the writer claims that The Yellow Wallpaper is on is autobiographical, because: Gilman wrote this story shortly after fleeing from her husband with her infant daughter. I believe that this source is one of the best sources I have found for my research project yet. Not only did this source give me multiple meanings and themes to my story, The Yellow Wallpaper, but it also gave me the style and technique in which Gilman wrote the story. I will definitely be using this source in my research paper, because it was beyond helpful. Gilman, Charlotte Perkins. The Yellow Wallpaper. The Norton Introduction to Literature. Kelly J. Pares 2 I obtained this source from my ENC 1102 text book: The Norton Introduction to Literature. This source is just the story, The Yellow Wallpaper itself. Charlotte Perkins Gilmans, They Yellow Wallpaper, is about a woman, Jane, who believes she is sick and tells her husband, John. John decides that his wife just needs to relax and de-stress, so he rents out a summer home for them. At the summer home is where Jane starts to become infatuated with this yellow wallpaper and slowly starts to lose her mind. Since this is the actual source of my whole research of course I am going to use this in my research. Out of this resource I shall use specific quotes from the text and scenarios from the story. In my paper I am going to use the parts of the story, The Yellow Wallpaper, where Jane is actually going mad. I am also going to use the parts where John, Janes husband, ignores Janes cries for help. Lastly I am going to use the parts of the story where Jane actually goes insane because of the yellow wallpaper. Kerr, Calum A. "Literary Contexts In Short Stories: Charlotte Perkins Gilman's "The Yellow Wallpaper." Literary Reference Center Plus. Web. 3 Apr. 2014. I obtained this source from: Literary Reference Center Plus. This source is a literary review on the context use in Gilmans The Yellow Wallpaper. This source focuses more on the context of the story, anywhere from: Historical context, all the way to biographical context. For example: one of the examples that the writer gives for societal context is: that in the 1900s women were suppose to listen to their husbands, and that is part of the reason that Jane, the woman in the story, went mad. I believe that this resource article will be of great help to me in my research project. This source article has helped me look at The Yellow Wallpaper in a completely different way. A

Gale Online Encyclopedia. Detroit: Gale, 2014. Literature Resources from Gale. Web. 7 Apr. 2014. This source I obtained from, Literature Resources from Gale. This source mainly focuses on the authors, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, connection to Gilmans story: The Yellow Wallpaper. The writer states that Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper shortly after experiencing a similar mental breakdown like the character in the story Jane. During the time that Gilman had this breakdown, she was prescribed the same treatment as Jane, the woman in the story. The writer goes on to state that it is her belief that Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper to help other women in similar situations cope. This is another great source article because it focuses on one of my point of research which is: autobiographical. This source goes in depth about Charlotte Perkins Gilmans personal life, during, before, and after writing The Yellow Wallpaper. This source gives great excerpts from interviews conducted with Gilman herself which will be invaluable to my research. I will certainly use this source in my writing. Post, Stephen L. Literature and Medicine 9: 172-180. Rpt. in Short Story Criticism.Vol. 146. Detroit: Gale, 2011. Literature Resources from Gale. Web. 7 Apr. 2014. I gathered this last source from Literature Resources from Gale. This source actually compares Charlotte Perkins Gilmans, The Yellow Wallpaper, with a similar story The Ordeal of William Pinfold. This article delves more into the autobiographical nature of The Yellow Wallpaper more than anything else. The writer states that both stories are partly based off the fact that the authors had some similar dilemma in their life or have had.

Pares 4 This source is very useful in helping me understand more about the author, Charlotte Perkins Gilman, but that is about it. I believe that, because of the true nature of this article, which is a comparison between, The Yellow Wallpaper and another story, it will not be useful in helping my actual writing. On the other hand, this article will help me understand the autobiographical view of The Yellow Wallpaper a lot better. Students Encyclopedia of American Literary Characters. Matthew J. Bruccoli and Judith S. Baughman. New York: Facts on File, 2008. 445-446. Gale Virtual Reference Library. Web. 9 Apr. 2014. I got this source from the Gale Virtual Reference Library. This source gives a long and extensive review of Charlotte Perkins Gilmans life history. This source touches on her history with mental illness and as to why, Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper. This article says that Gilman wrote The Yellow Wallpaper to try and give false claim to the rest-cure and show just how much it did not work. This source has been a huge help because the criticism that I have chosen to write about in my research paper in autobiographical. While doing an autobiographical criticism, I need all the information on the author as I can get and this source is full of useful information. I will definitely be using this source in my paper, and most likely quoting it a couple of times.
