Wisconsin Teenagers Doodle Wins National Google Contest MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 22, 2013) Sabrina Brady was named the 2013 U.S. winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition for her image titled Coming Home. Her artwork will be featured on Googles (NASDAQ: GOOG) homepage tomorrow, May 23. The Wisconsin student won a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for her high school. Students from across all 50 states participated in the sixth annual contest. They were asked to draw their interpretations of this years theme, My Best Day Ever... The panel of judges that included Katie Couric, Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman and Brian Henson, picked 50 state winners from the 130,000 submissions. The public then voted on their favorite doodles from each of the five age groups. After the national finalists were selected Google executives selected Brady as the national winner. Stokes Elementary School in Levittown, N.Y., for her doodle When I discover paradise!; Maria Iannone, seventh-grader at Chestnut Ridge Middle School in Sewell, N.J ., for her doodle The best day ever; and J oseph Han, eighth-grader at Falmouth Middle School in Falmouth, Maine, for his doodle Late- afternoon bliss. Google CEO Larry Page said, I was particularly touched by Sabrinas doodle. I loved the way she incorporated genuine emotion with the creative use of the Google letters. This moment clearly resonated with voters across America and everyone here at Google. All 50 state finalists will have their artwork displayed in a special exhibition of their artwork at American Museum of Natural History in New York until J uly 14, 2013. I was honored to be named the national winner. It was an important moment for me and I loved being able to express it through this contest Brady said. Brady plans to attend the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in the fall. The annual Doodle 4 Google national competition is open to K-12 students in U.S. schools.
