ENC 1101 Team Responsibilities

In this course, you will participate in one, two-part Team Assignment.

• Week 5 – Team Assignment, Part 1: Team Roles and Story Writing

• Week 6 – Team Assignment, Part 2: Story Conclusion and Final Editing

Each is discussed in detail below.

Week 5 – Team Roles and Story Writing

To complete this assignment, follow these steps.

1. Go to your teamwork area and introduce yourself.
2. If desired, volunteer to be the team leader. The team leader will be involved over Weeks 5
and 6 and will coordinate the discussion to assure everyone is involved and the discussion is
going smoothly.
3. If desired, volunteer to the final editor. The final editor will be involved in Week 6 as the
final person to proofread and correct team input on the story.
4. With your team, choose one of the following genres:
• Horror
• Comedy
• Action/Adventure
• Sci-Fi
• Mystery
• Fantasy
• Drama
5. Once your genre is selected, begin posting.
• Any team member is free to post the first paragraph. It should begin with the prompt and
provide details that other team members can use to build the story.
• Additional team members will add paragraphs to the story.
• Collaborate on story development by providing feedback on what has already been
written. Add detail to strengthen the story.
• The team leader facilitates as needed to keep everyone on track.
6. By the end of Week 5:
• Complete your introductory post (Steps 4-5)
• Participate in writing the story as described in Step 5.

Week 6 – Story Conclusion and Final Editing

Continue developing your story.

1. Continue collaboration on story development as facilitated by the team leader. Proofread the
paragraphs that have been posted and provide feedback that shapes the story.
2. Finalize your story by mid-week on Week 6.
3. The Final Editor will:
• Paste the final story into a Microsoft Word document.
• Add a title and perform MINOR editing, if needed to assure:
9 A clear beginning
9 Paragraph transitions
9 A clear ending
• Post the story to your team’s Team Folder in Doc Sharing by the end of Week 6.
