Foreword to Students
This self-learning module (SLM) is designed to make your learning possible even if
we cannot conduct face-to-face classroom instruction due to the present situation. As such,
the extent of gaining your knowledge and skills in this course greatly depends on your inner
motivation to learn despite various hindrances that may come your way.
This module consists of four lessons; and each lesson mainly contains Opener, the
Lesson Content, Activities, and Required Reading and Materials.
For your convenience, the lesson contents in each lesson are inputs that have been
researched to cover the topics. All you need to do is read and understand them carefully.
Researching on the same topics is a great advantage for the enhancement of your
knowledge. If there are still concepts that are vague or confusing, here are some tips to
solve the problem:
The Activities are aimed to boost your knowledge of the subject matters and will test
your inner motivation in assessing your ability and skills after understanding the lesson
content..
The Required Reading and Materials are given for additional information and
enrichment. It is highly recommended that you download them and study them to complete
the lesson.
The last part of the module is the Module Summary and Summative Test. The
summative test should be done and submitted with the last Lesson of the module.
1) Your membership in our group chat with your real name in your account.
Accounts not listed in the master list of the corresponding course, level and block will not be
considered enrolled in my class.
2) Regular submission of output. Although the module is good for four weeks, you
have to submit your outputs every week, one lesson per week. Submit soft copy of your
output through my personal messenger or e-mail. No need for you to request in the FB
page, just in the messenger. Label every output with the following info.: Full Name,
Course, Level and Block, Subject, and Module Number and Lesson Number. Submission
schedule: before or at the end our period. Submission during the day is still considered on
time, but submission the next day and following days will be considered late.
The following should be STRICTLY followed in the use of our group chat and e-mail:
1. Be courteous. Greet before you start your message (but do not overdo it). Use
respectful words. If you are sending an output through e-mail, fill in the subject line with 2-5
words that summarize your e-mail; begin your message with a short greeting and continue
with a 2-5 words for your message; end it with a short closing phrase.
2. Do not post anything that does not concern the subject. If there is a very important
information that everybody should know, chat first with me personally and I will decide
whether that will be posted or not. In case an announcement is made by the admin, you may
just tell the group what it is all about and where to access the info by giving the link. It is
understood that everybody should also be updated with school announcements.
3. Use the GC for relevant discussions only. Do not use it for giving personal
comments to a classmate’s behavior or for conversations outside the subject at hand.
4. If you have researched something useful about the topics for the week, you can
share it to the group by stating what it is all about and giving the link.
For a fruitful and genuinely successful completion of this module, here are some
pieces of advice:
1) Work on the modules YOURSELF and do not resort to shortcuts, using “being
resourceful” as an excuse by letting someone do it for you or just copying or modifying
somebody else’s work. (This will result to disaster when you forget to replace even your
name ). Since you think that nobody is watching, you have a free choice on what to learn
and how to learn it. The QUANTITY AND QUALITY of education that you will gain in these
hard times will significantly depend on YOU.
2. Get your modules done one at a time. Provide ample time for each module, for
example, two or three hours each, depending on your circumstances). Make a well-
organized and fixed schedule in working for each lesson, and strictly stick to it. In our case,
use your three-hour period to finish each lesson in your module.
2) Work in a place where you will not be distracted. Provide a special space in your
home where you can have full concentration.
3) See to it that all members of the family know and understand that you are “in
school” at that particular place and time, and they have to respect it.
4). Refrain from using your cellphone during your “school hours” except when you
need it for the completion of your modules. If you have a habit of posting, commenting,
sharing etc. on your social media account, forget it first while you are doing your modules. It
will be a big distraction.

PREFACE
This course allows the pre-service BTVTEd teachers to explore the nature of the
macro skills and the theoretical bases, principles, and methods and strategies in teaching
and assessing listening, speaking, reading, writing, and viewing. It aims to provide various

suit learners’ gender, needs, strengths, interests, and experiences. Also, they will be able to
identify learning outcomes aligned with the learning competencies and provide timely,
accurate, and constructive feedback to improve learners’ performance in the macro skills.
At the end of the course, the students should be able to:

needs, strengths interests, and experiences;
B. demonstrate how to provide timely, accurate, and constructive feedback to improve
learner performance in the different tasks in the macro skills through simulations;
C. craft a learning plan according to the English curricula that is developed from research-
based knowledge and principles of the five language macro-components and the theoretical
bases, principles, methods, and strategies in teaching these components; and
D. conduct a teaching demonstration of the assigned learning competencies in the macro
skills.
