QUESTIONS
1. Describe 3 different dialog window that you used. Include the name of the dialog window, and
at least 2 details of HOW you used it.
Layers, I used it to see all my layers and to duplicate layers.
Channels, dialog next to layers that allows me to change things in a certain layer
Undo history, lets you undo recent activity

2. Describe 3 different tools that you used to make a selection in GIMP. List them and describe HOW you
used them. Which one did you use the most and WHY?
you click on the little red box at the bottom of the paths dialog to make it into a selection
You go to select and click on select editor

3. Describe 3 different ways to adjust the color and/or contrast, lightness of an image in GIMP.
you go to the colors filters and you select hue saturation and slide it all to the left and you make black and
white
You go to the colors filter and select hue saturation
You go to the colors filter and select brightness and contrast

4. Describe a project that used TEXT in two different ways. Describe the basic techniques used.
BE SPECIFIC.
The inspiration project used text in two different ways. You pick a wide font first and type out your
word/phrase. You add a text to path
You change your path into a selection.
Turn off visibility on the original text layer
Create a new white layer
Select the text and go to edit>clear to create a hole in the shape of text
Add a stroke to your text
Deselect
Open other images as layers
Move the layer with the hole shape on top
Resize your new images and arrange them to fit in the shaped word
Turn off visibility on all layers except your new images
Go to image>merge visible layers
Turn on visibility of the original text
Select fuzzy select tool to select the text
Select>invert
Go to merge layer of images. Edit>clear
Turn off visibility of everything except the stroke layer and fill the text layer
Image>merge visible layers
Open as layer your new images
5. Describe 2 different projects/lessons where we used GIMP to simulate camera techniques. Name
the project AND how it simulated what can be done with a camera (an SLR).
Geersten project, we had to clone the color around our Victorian person and make it blend in.
We had to clone the young ladys face to clear up her acne.

6. Which project was your favorite? WHY? What skills, tools, and techniques did you use?
I enjoyed the image swap and the inspirational project. With the image swap we all had a chance to interact
with others. In the inspirational project I enjoyed adding pictures in a text.
