Fr. Jeff Stoneberg Biography

Father Jeff Stoneberg was born and raised in Aurora, Illinois, about 20 miles west of Lombard. Father
Jeff spent his early years in Aurora, Oswego and Yorkville, and he was the oldest of
seven children. The Stoneberg family was always busy with activity, especially when it came to church
and attending Catholic schools. Father Jeffs first employer was Sears, Roebuck and Company; he later
became an Official Court Reporter for the State of Illinois in Geneva at the Kane County Courthouse.

After spending time discerning the priesthood, Father Jeff entered St. Meinrad Seminary College in
southern Indiana and later attended the seminary at St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein. Father Jeff was
ordained by Bishop Imesch in June of 1990, and was assigned to St. Michael in Wheaton. He later
served at St. Joseph in Addison, St. James in Glen Ellyn, and was assigned as pastor at St. Ann in
Channahon.

Father Jeff enjoys walking, so you will no doubt see him walking through the neighborhood on his way to
Yorktown Shopping Center or shops along Roosevelt Road. He enjoys listening to his music, prefer-
ring big band, classical and Lawrence Welk. Father Jeff spends much of his free time out in the Fox Val-
ley, having grown up in the area. In addition, his mom and dad live there in the town of Yorkville, about a
50 minute drive southwest of Lombard.

He finds the role of a priest rewarding and challenging. He looks forward to coming to Christ the King to
share his faith with others; and to grow with them in the journey we share in walking with the Lord.
Blessing for New Pastor
Almighty God, in your love for us you sent your
Son to be our Shepherd and leader, our brother
and our Lord. You continue to show your love for
us by sending workers into the harvest. Bless Fr
Jeff Stoneberg as he takes up the responsibility of
pastor among your people in this faith community
of Christ the King.
May your Holy Spirit fill him with the wisdom to
teach and guide this parish family and to lead it in
worship and good works. May he always be a
faithful follower of your Son. May you be pleased
with all of his efforts to love and serve you in
worship, word and work.
When at last, Father Jeff returns home to you,
may he hear your words of welcome, Well done
my good and faithful servant. We ask this
through Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever
and ever. Amen.
St Pauls Experience as Pastor:

For we do not preach ourselves
but Jesus Christ as Lord,
and ourselves as your slaves
for the sake of Jesus.
For God who said,
Let light shine out of darkness,
has shone in our hearts to bring
to light the knowledge of the glory of God
on the face of Jesus Christ.

The Paradox of the Ministry7

But we hold this treasure
*

in earthen vessels,
that the surpassing power
may be of God and not from us.
II Cor 4:5-7
Fr Jeff,
As you undertake your new responsibilities,
know that we, your parish family, daily seek
Gods blessing for you.

Reflecting on Gods Word
AMEN

Take a look around the walls of your church. Even if
it's only a year or two old, the word "Amen" has re-
sounded off those walls countless times at the conclu-
sion of the Eucharistic Prayer and as the faithful have
come forward to receive the Body and Blood of
Christ. Today's feast is about those "Amens" offered
in faith, offered in times of trouble or doubt, spoken in
joy, spoken mindlessly, but all given to God in a mul-
titude of ways. It is our very lives that lie behind our
"Amens" and are touched by the presence of Christ,
the presence we celebrate today. More importantly,
we celebrate the love of Christ for us shown in the
sacrifice on Calvary and that he continues to give to
us in every celebration of the Eucharist. What can we
do but rejoice in that great love, and then go out into
the world and live that love in sacrificing for others?

Immaculate Heart of Mary
The Feast of Corpus Christi, (Latin for Body of Christ) or the Feast of
the Body and Blood of Christ (as it is often called today), goes back to
the 13th century, but it celebrates something far older: the institution of
the Sacrament of Holy Communion at the Last Supper. While Holy
Thursday is also a celebration of this mystery, the solemn nature of Holy
Week, and the focus on Christ's Passion on Good Friday, overshadows
that aspect of Holy Thursday.
The Feast of Corpus Christi is a Latin Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating
the tradition and belief in the body and blood of Jesus Christ and his Real
Presence in the Eucharist. It emphasizes the joy of the institution of the
Eucharist, which was observed on Holy Thursday in the somber atmos-
phere of the nearness of Good Friday.
In the present Roman Missal, the feast is designated the solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of
Christ. It is also celebrated in some Anglican, Lutheran, and Old Catholic Churches that hold similar beliefs
regarding the Real Presence. The feast is liturgically celebrated on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday or,
"where the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ is not a holy day of obligation, it is assigned
to the Sunday after the Most Holy Trinity as its proper day". At the end of Holy Mass, there is often a proces-
sion of the Blessed Sacrament, generally displayed in a monstrance. The procession is followed by Benedic-
tion of the Blessed Sacrament. A notable Eucharistic procession is that presided over by the Pope each year
in Rome, where it begins at the Archbasilica of St. John Lateran and makes its way to the Basilica of Saint
Mary Major, where it concludes with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in
Christ:

Our participation in the Peters
Pence Collection gives us an
opportunity to be a witness of
charity to our brothers and sis-
ters around the world. Gifts to this annual collection
help the Holy Father support victims of war, natural
disasters, and others most in need of assistance.

On Easter Sunday 2013, Pope Francis encouraged
each person to be a witness of charity. He said, Let
us be renewed by Gods mercy and let us become
agents of this mercy, channels through which God can
water the earth, protect all creation, and make justice
and peace flourish. Pope Francis has continued to
remind us through his actions that we must serve our
brothers and sisters in order to be true disciples of
Christ.

Join the Holy Father and be a witness of charity
throughout the world. You can participate through
your donations, prayers, and outreach to spread the
message of need. Please be generous in the Peters
Pence Collection next weekend, June 28/29.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend R. Daniel Conlon
Bishop of Joliet
Rev. Fathers Day Collection
