Amelya who is my classmate is an active girl. Both of us are from 6
Mawar class of Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Maju. Her hobby is
drawing and she loves to spend her leisure time at the park nearby
her house drawing the beautiful scenery of the universe. All of her
friends admire her for her amazing drawing. She is very talented in
drawing and she dreams to be a popular artist one day. As her
friend, I know she is not building the castle in the air because she
deserves for it.
One day, when Amelya and I were walking together to the
canteen, we saw a notice about a drawing competition. The
competition was organized by Visual Art Club of our school. Amelya
was overwhelmed with joy because she was very excited to take
part. Without any further ado, she registered her name at the
teacher-in-charge, Puan Kamaladewi. After a week prepared for
the competition, on fine Saturday morning, Amelya and the other
twenty participants who took part in that competition were
gathering in school hall to start showing their talent in the
competition. It was held for all the students from standard four until
six. There were many students came to watch the competition.
Amelya gave full concentration on her drawing. I could see that she
was very serious and intense to have the most beautiful drawing. She
was given one hour thirty minutes to finish the drawing. Because of
her hard effort, she could draw as easy as ABC.
The time was over and the judges asked all the participants to
hand in their drawings. It was the time for the judges to judge the
drawings. Amelya looked very confident but she was still nervous like
a cat on her brick because the other participants drawings were
also good and fascinating. The judges arranged all the drawings in a
row. It was the hard time for the judges to look for the winner
because all the participants came out with the impressive drawings.
There were four judges who judged the drawing. They were Mr Tan,
Mr David, Madam Ming and Mr Salleh. They needed to judge wisely
and carefully so that they could find the real winner. While waiting
for the judges to decide for the winner, Amelya was very delighted
because she was able to finish her drawing within the time given.
She told to herself for not being too worried because after her hard
work, she will reap what she sowed. She let the god to decide her
final result.
After forty five minutes judging the drawings, the judges
already had the winner of the competition. All the participants were
very eager to know the result and they were like a butterfly in their
stomach. The headmaster was on the stage to give away the prizes
to the winners. The master of ceremony announced the result from
the third to the first place. The third place went to her friend, Shasha
and the second place went to a boy from 6 Kemboja class,
Sulaiman. Her heart was beating very fast when the master of
ceremony were about to announce the winner. She was on the top
of the world when the master of ceremony called her name as the
winner of the competition. She was as happy as a king and
extremely surprised. She won the first prize which was a certificate, a
hamper of RM200, a trophy and a box of drawing sets. All of her
friends congratulated her for her victory. Amelya was very grateful
and thanked them for their support.
It was a very good time for Amelya and that made her be
more enthusiastic in catching her ambition to be a professional artist.
The competition proved that she can draw very well. She looked
forward to have her own art gallery. She could display all of her
interesting drawings. What an ambitious girl!
