Namo Namo Budget
The wind of change has finally started blowing in India. As expected, NDA has come
to power by a huge mandate with Narendra Modi at its helm. The majority of Indians
have put their faith on Modi and his mantra of development. Modis agenda to revive
growth and create jobs spelled magic for BJP and its alliance NDA and the Congress-
led UPA did not have the slightest chance to form some resistance before such a strong
Modi Storm.
Now just after one and half month in power the brand new Modi government is going
to present its first Railways and Union Budget in a few days time. It is a significant
moment for both the government and the countrymen alike. For the Modi government,
it is time to actually put their words and promises into action and to show the
electorate that the government indeed cares for them. For the common people on the
other hand it is a moment to see their hopes and aspirations taking concrete shape. It is
the time to bring the promised Achchhe Din into a reality. The 2014-15 Union Budget
provides the NDA government with the first chance to do exactly that, and the
decisions taken in the first budget will give a clear roadmap as to which direction the
new government is heading to. While it is true that no miracle can be expected
overnight, and the promise of growth and development might still take some time to
materialise, but the budget will fail to satisfy the voters if it does not contain a vision
and a roadmap of what will be done in next three years. Therefore, it is the citizens
expectation that the budget will provide an outline of the economic philosophy of the
government and that it will be different from the budgets presented by the previous
government which they have just overwhelmingly rejected.
The new Modi government has already made it clear that it is going to take a slew of
measures targeted at curbing the inflation and at the same time spurring growth and
investment. At the same time the government has also indicated that it will not flinch
at taking some tough administrative reforms in order to ensure a sustainable
development of the nation even if those decisions goes against the interest of common
people. As the new government is busy drafting its maiden budget, what could
possibly be going on in the common peoples mind? Are they apprehensive about the
outcome, or are they confident about their choice of government? In order to get an
answer to these questions, we, at foreseegame.com, thought to resort to the peoples
court once again. Through our latest Opinion Square survey we presented a set of
questions that focuses on various aspects of economic and related developmental

aspects and asked whether these aspects would find a place in the upcoming Union
Budget 2014-15, or not. The survey results are overwhelming and it clearly shows that
the people of India have firm faith on their choice and they are absolutely hopeful that
the new government will strive to fulfill its promises to the countrymen.
