both basic and applied is
systematic, intensive study
directed towards full
scientific knowledge of the
subject studied.
is the systematic use of
scientific knowledge
directed toward the
production of useful
materials, devices, systems,
or methods, including
design and development of
prototype and processes.
Engineer roles in Research Engineer roles in
Development
1. Normally as a head
in any agency that
authorised such
research.
2. Using their
expertise on the
field in finding new
materials or better
way of doing
things may it in
terms of cost
effectiveness or

KEJURUTERAAN DI INDUSTRI DAN

1. Setiap produk mempunyai kos dan
perlu mempunyai nilai tambah
tertentu untuk kekal bersaing.
2. Produk perlukan kepada inovasi tetapi
dalam kawalan disiplin yang telah
ditetapkan oleh pihak berkuasa.
3. Kepimpinan dalam industri dan sikap

Short Term Grant
Objectives:
1. To encourage innovative usage of and
adapting existing and creating new
technologies and product
2. To strengthen national
competetiveness in global markets
3. To promote closer linkages between
private and public sector like
universities and research institutes
4. To encourage strategic global and
regional linkages in R&D

Q4) A)
1. Degree of differentiation - industries where
products are commodities (e.g. steel, coal) have
greater rivalry; industries where competitors can
differentiate their products have less rivalry
2. Switching costs - rivalry is reduced where buyers
have high switching costs - i.e. there is a significant
cost associated with the decision to buy a product
from an alternative supplier
3. Strategic objectives - when competitors are
pursuing aggressive growth strategies, rivalry is
more intense. Where competitors are "milking"
profits in a mature industry, the degree of rivalry
is less
4. Exit barriers - when barriers to leaving an industry
are high (e.g. the cost of closing down factories) -
then competitors tend to exhibit greater rivalry
