Code of Conduct, School Rules and Routines

Rules and policies are essential for the smooth running of
the school and, more importantly, they are often related
to keeping students and staff safe and well. We are glad
that our students and their parents appreciate this.
Courteous and considerate behavior is expected by all
students of AL-HAMRA ACADEMY & SECONDARY SCHOOL
at all times, to staff members and peers alike. We try to
keep formal rules to a minimum at AHASS, and instead
follow a basic code of conduct, which can be summed up
in three words:
Consideration
Courtesy
Common Sense
We feel that students should be encouraged to learn self-
discipline and how to judge for them, what is and is not
appropriate in any given situation.
SCHOOL RULES & ROUTINES BASIC OUTLINE. DETAILS OF
THESE 17 RULES BELOW ARE GIVEN TO ALL PARENTS OR
AT REQUEST.
CONDUCT
Good manners should be shown at all times. Everyone
should always demonstrate consideration for other
people; their safety and property.
ATTIRE
we are a "uniform school" and students are expected to
wear their uniform with pride.
HYGIENE
all students are expected to come to school having taken
care of oral and personal-physical hygiene. As in the case
of head-lice, students are likely to pass it on - please ask
for more information about our head-lice policy at
AHASS.
CLEANLINESS
Respect must always be shown towards the school's and
other people's property. Dropping litter is anti-social and
culprits should be reported to a member of staff or the
student council. All litter should be disposed off in the
appropriate bins
ATTENDANCE AND LEAVES
we value good standards of attendance. The students are
expected to maintain high standards of attendance
throughout their time at the school especially during
Term Exams and Tests
PUNCTUALITY
We value good standards of punctuality
CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
It is mandatory for all students to participate in co-
curricular activities during and after school hours if
chosen by the school authorities
EXAMINATIONS AND TESTS
Rules will be laid out before every exam that students are
expected to follow
DISCIPLINE AND SANCTIONS
Where discipline and sanctions are required these are in
line with the severity of the misconduct. Low-level
disruptions will be dealt with on an individual basis by the
teachers. This will involve talking with the students and
reminding them of the 3 C's Policy
DETENTIONS
Students must get detention slips signed by their parents
ANTI-BULLYING
The school has a very strict view on bullying in all its
forms, physical, verbal and psychological. Bullying will not
be tolerated. Those caught bullying will be severely
disciplined prior to appearing before the Board of
Governors
ANTI-DRUGS
The school will not tolerate either dealing in or bringing
illegal substances on to the school premises or outside in
school uniform. Those apprehended will face immediate
suspension prior to being brought before the Board of
Governors. Smoking is forbidden. Students are not
allowed to smoke or have smoking materials, drugs or
alcohol in school; when involved in any school activity or
when in uniform
BANNED ITEMS
we may ban any item that interferes with the smooth
running of the school. The ban may refer to all students
or to individuals who have created a nuisance
CANTEEN
Food must not be consumed inside teaching areas
PERSONAL AND PUBLIC PROPERTY
Vandalizing school property is a serious offence

Ball games should take place in a manner that avoids
damage to buildings and preserves the safety of other
