Begin the day with an educational workshop suitable for all ages. This is
an educational seminar designed to increase our awareness and to en-
courage us to learn more about our river. The Dry Frio River is a small
part of a larger river system and one of our most precious resources.
Understanding the surrounding ecosystem and learning how to assess
the health of our river will help us become better stewards of our river
and keep the clean water flowing for future generations.
The three hour workshop is free. We will meet at the pavilion at 9 am.
There will be a slide show presentation at the Ranch House and a walk-
ing tour, weather permitting. Two full color field guides will be yours to
keep. The Nueces River Authority maintains two websites with online
lessons. (www. nueces-ra.org or www.remarkableriperian.org) All edu-
cational materials are free but the Nueces River Authority appreciates
donations to help defer printing costs.

enjoyed a
pleasant evening, good food, and lively conversation. Most
stayed till well after 9:30 P.M. While the younger children
played, the adults considered ways to improve the overall Frio
Cielo Ranch experience. All agreed it was important to contin-
ue the Ranch traditions like the Games during the Annual Pic-
nic, the Fall Festival, pot lucks in the Park. The Park is a
wonderful, safe place for our children to play and a comfort-
able meeting spot for everyone. The idea of a pre-Board-meet-
ing gathering was to find some middle ground, a place to start
communicating in a non-threatening manner.
The good news, although the Board of Directors meeting had
been canceled, twenty or so people came together for more
than three hours and had a serious, meaningful discussion
about their hopes for the future of the Frio Cielo Ranch.
Although members of the Board were not able to attend the
August potluck and enjoy neighborly conversation, we hope as
many as possible will attend the Oct. 18
th
events. The day's
events will provide a great way for owners and Board members
to get to know one another in a relaxed, informal way.
We need volunteers to:
1. Run the Tortilla Toss
2. Help set up and decorate
3. Help clean up
4. Make trophies
5. Bring your ideas to the Roundtable discussion!
