PREAMBLE
COMPETENT AUTHORITY
CONDUCT OF MAMI-MCA-CET-2014
The Association of MCA Institutes in Maharashtra is registered as 'Management Association of MCA Institutes' bearing
No. MAH/ 1084/04/A.nagar dated 31/12/2004.
'Networking for a bright future' is the motto of the Management Association of MCA Institutes. The chief role of the
Association is that of a significant contributor to the field of IT and to the cause of revolutionizing the study of
Computer Application at the postgraduate level.
Indeed achieving the above-mentioned motto is no easy task. Knowing this the Association has meticulously
formulated a set of objectives, which encompass all aspects related to the MCA program, starting from need, analysis
and admission procedures to quality teaching. The objectives envisage setting up a forum for influencing national
policy making of MCA programs, conducting CET for MCA for member institutes, forming University level Chapters,
improving the efficiency of the member institutes through faculty exchange programs, organizing national seminars,
symposia etc. Along with this the Association also provide education to teachers, publish scholarly books on Computer
Applications, honoring outstanding professionals, collecting, compiling and filing useful and advanced information in
the subject and making it available to member institutes. Maintaining healthy interaction between the institutes and
industries, developing a healthy spirit of competition in students through extracurricular and co-curricular activities,
suggesting modifications in the syllabus according to changing industrial needs, organizing student visits to industrial
establishments, protecting the common interests of member institutes and finally, submitting tentative fee structures
and admission procedures for the approval of competent authorities. It is hoped that the above specific objectives can
fulfill the Associations larger aim of leading our student community to a bright future.
The brochure of MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 contains single application form for entrance examination and the rules are
applicable only for the Academic year 2014-2015.
Dr. S. B. Kolte, Executive President, Ahmednagar is appointed by the Association and Pravesh Niyantran Samiti as the
Competent Authority. The competent authority will supervise and control the conduct of MAMI-MCA-CET-2014,
evaluation of answers and declaration of results. The Competent Authority will issue necessary executive instructions
for implementation of these rules and provide relevant information to be published and communicated.
MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 shall be conducted by the Competent Authority appointed by the Association. Candidates
should go through the contents of this Brochure carefully and for any clarification and genuine doubts/difficulties
approach the Competent Authority. Further information, if any, about Entrance Test, will be uploaded and published
regularly on the web site www.mamimca.org.
GRIEVANCE
Any grievance with respect to MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 be referred to the Executive President of the Association who in
consultation with the Secretary and the Treasurer will deal with.

PLEASE NOTE
ELIGIBILITY
IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS
The Association reserves the right to add or delete the examination centres due to unforseen circumstances during
the conduct of MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 at a center(s) and in the contingencies like incidence of mass copying, leakage
of question paper, entrance of unauthorized persons in the examination centres / halls, natural calamities, riots, etc.
rendering it impossible for smooth conduct of MAMI-MCA-CET-2014. The Competent Authority may cancel the
examination at such or all center(s). It shall be further notified on the website www.mamimca.org the fresh
programme for conduct of MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 at such center(s).

Candidates passing out MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 examination will be admitted only against vacant seats and institutional
quota after Directorate of Technical Education, 3, Mahapalika Marg, Opp. Metro Cinema, Mumbai - 400 001. rounds
are completed.
Participating Institutes will give an advertisement inviting applications for filling up the vacant seats. After
receiving the applications the Institute will prepare the merit list as per the instructions given in the Information
Brochure of (MAH-MCA-CET 2014) of Directorate of Technical Education, 3, Mahapalika Marg, Opp. Metro Cinema,
Mumbai - 400 001. All admissions will be made by the Institute as per the Government norms.
Note : Vacancies will be filled in first through the candidates who have passed MAH-MCA-CET-2014. Even after
the seats are remaining vacant then only the candidates who have passed for MAMI-MCA-CET 2014
will be admitted.

Please note : Any candidate himself /herself or his /her Authorized Proxy if found obstructing the admission
process or trying to influence in any manner or creating nuisance the candidate shall be liable for
Disqualification from the admission process. The decision taken by the College Authority shall be
final and binding.
PROCEDURE TO BE FOLLOWED
1. The candidates should procure the brochure and application form from the Centres mentioned above. For
details see the website : www.mamimca.org
2. The candidates will submit duly filled in application form alongwith one passport size photo for Hall Ticket at
the same center from where he /she has purchased brochure and application form.
3. The candidates will receive the hall ticket for the examination from the same Centre. The candidates
therefore are requested to collect the hall ticket for the examination while submitting the application form
and ensure that hall ticket contains passport size photograph.
Please note that Hall ticket is just an enabling provision for appearing MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 and does not
imply that the candidate satisfies all the requirements of eligibility conditions of admission.
4. The Candidate must preserve the Hall ticket safely and bring to the examination hall and produce the same
on demand by the examination staff. In case of loss of Hall ticket, it shall be obligatory on the part of the
candidate to procure duplicate Hall ticket from the examination center in charge not later than one hour
before the commencement of examination on payment of Rs. 100/- with sufficient evidence to prove that
he/she is the genuine / bonafide candidate.
5. Candidates will appear for MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 written test at the designated venue as mentioned on the
Hall Ticket on 02 at 1.00 to 3.00 p.m. The candidate shall report to the Centre at least half an hour
before the examination time.
6. The Candidates will receive the score card from the same center. In case of loss of original score card, a
duplicate Score card can be obtained on making an application on plain paper to the Competent Authority of
the Association alongwith a D.D. of Rs. 200/- in favour of the 'Management Association of MCA Institutes'
payable at Pune.
7. The candidates passing out this examination are eligible for admission only in any of the participating
institutes. (the list of participating Institutes for MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 is given in the brochure as well as on
the website).

DETAILS OF MAMI-MCA-CET-2014
E The question paper of the CET will be set in English only. Translations in any other languages will not be
available.
E The CET would be comprised of two papers of 100 marks. The examination consists of 2 papers: General
Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC). The duration of the examination is 2 hours. Each paper has
25 questions.
E The CET would have multiple choice objective type questions (MCQs)
E There will be no verification of marks or no re-valuation of answer sheets of CET. There will be no negative
marking.
E At the start of the examination, you will be given an Optical Mark Reader (OMR) answer sheet. You have to
make your answer in this sheet and give it to the invigilator at the end of the examination.
E It is mandatory to fill up the following information in the OMR answer sheet. Without this information the
answer sheet is liable for rejection. Fill in corresponding ovals carefully with a BLACK BALL POINT PEN only. The
answer sheet will be machine evaluated.
Make sure that the ovals are exactly filled and properly darkened.
E You can use all the blank space in the question paper for your rough work. No additional sheets will be provided for
rough work.
E All questions are to be answered by choosing the most suitable of the given alternatives. If you feel that the
exact answer is not given, choose the best available answer. Do not seek any clarifications from the invigilator
or any one else during the examination.
E Each correct answer will carry 4 marks. Unanswered questions will carry zero marks.
E The question paper MUST be returned with all the sheets intact. Failure to return these will result in you
being disqualified from the examination.
E Use of calculators, slide rules, log tables or other such arithmetic aids and cellular phone, pager etc. is not
allowed. Instructions sent to you with the application receipt, notes etc. are also not allowed. If you have
brought any of these, please leave them with the invigilator.

Syllabus for MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 Examination
X SCHEME OF CET
X GENERAL APTITUDE
X SYLLABUS
The MAMI-MCA-CET-2014 examination comprises of two papers (objective type) of one hour duration each viz
General Aptitude (GA) and Computer Concepts (CC). The syllabus & sample question paper are available on
website and also in brochure.
The main objective of this paper is to assess the general aptitude of the candidate to pursue a computer
applications and software profession.
The questions in this paper will cover : logical, reasoning, quantitative reasoning, high school mathematics,
vocabulary, English comprehension and verbal ability. A good grasp of the following topics of high school
th
mathematics (up to the 12 standard) will be useful :
lAlgebra : Fundamental operations in Algebra, Expansion, Factorization, Quadratic equations, indices,
logarithms, arithmetic, geometric and harmonic progressions, bionomical theorem, permutations and
combinations.
lCo-ordinate Geometry : Rectangular Cartesian co-ordinates, equations of a line, mid point intersections
etc. equations of a circle formulae, pair of straight lines, parabola, ellipse and hyperbola, simple geometric
transformations such as translation, rotation, scaling.
lDifferential Equations : Differential equations of first order and their solutions, linear differential equations
with constant coefficients, homogenous linear differential equations.
lTrigonometry : Simple identities, trigonometric equations, properties of triangles, solution of triangles,
height and distance, inverse function.
lProbability and Statistics : Basic concepts of probability theory, Averages, Dependent and independent
events, frequency distributions and measures of dispersions, skewness and kurtosis, random variable and
distribution functions, mathematical expectations, Binomial, Poisson, normal distribution, curve fitting and
principle of least squares, correlation and regression.
lArithmetic : Ratios and proportions, problems on time-work, distance-speed, percentage etc.
lBasic Set Theory and Functions : Set relations and mappings.
lMensuration : areas, triangles and quadrilaterals, area and circumference of circles, volumes and surface
areas of simple solids such as cubes, spheres, cylinders and cones.
