Strike Together

H
UNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of workers are striking
this week for decent pay. Health workers, civil
service workers, and further education teachers
are all involved in the action.
We will need more strikes if we are going to win. Many
workers in local government will be angy that their strike
was suspended. The proposal on the table is no better
than what people were offered before 10 July strike.
There must be a campaign for rejection in each of the
local government unions.
The 18 October Britain Needs a Pay Rise
demonstration is a brilliant opportunity to show the
scale of opposition to the Tories.
Labour have shown that they are prepared to sign
up to Tory spending plans. We have seen that where
Labour are failing to provide an alternative, UKIP are
making gains and spreading lies about immigration.
We cant afford to be divided, there is too much at
stake.
We need unity across the trade union movement and
we need a level of strikes that can win. The Care UK
strikers in Doncaster have now surpassed 80 days of
strikes since February, this is the kind of determination
we need to beat the Tories.
The Unite the Resistance conference on Saturday
15 November gives an opportunity for people to come
together across the movement and debate the way
forward.
