Question of the Week in the light of todays liturgy
(26th October)

Because we only love God as much as the neighbour we
love the least, whom do I need to begin looking at differ-
ently this week if I hope to begin looking more like
God?
You are now able to access the parish newsletter from our twitter

THE NEW YORK MARATHON
& THE GOOD LIFE ORPHANAGE

Next weekend (2nd November), Sinead
Hayes (Mary & Kevins daughter) will be taking part in
the New York Marathon raising funds for the Good Life Orphanage.
There are two ways in which you can sponsor Sinead:

1. There is a sponsor sheet at the back of Church.
2. You can go to her Just-giving page at www.justgiving.com/
Sinead-Maguire0/ and pledge your sponsorship there (and you
are able to gift-aid your sponsorship money by doing it this way)

Thank you to all those who have already sponsored Sinead, and GOOD
LUCK next weekend Sinead.
Many thanks Fr Paul.
The Autumn Ladies Fashion Show which should have
taken place on Thursday 23rd October sadly had to be can-
celled due to a lack of support.
If you bought a ticket for the event please return your ticket to
the Parish Office and we will be able to refund your ticket
money.
CHILDRENS LITURGY OF THE WORD
We had a great meeting a couple of weeks ago for our
existing helpers and new volunteers who are going to get in-
volved (with apologies from quite a few others as well).
Where do we go now? We will be having another meeting (after
half-term), looking at the practicalities in more details, and also
looking at the safeguarding regulations and practicalities. If you
would like to get involved in being a part of the team for either
the 8.45 or 10.30 Mass, please contact the Parish Office and we
will add you to the list. The more people we have in the team,
the less pressure it is on our existing team members.
If you would like to get involved, please contact the office on
0161 764 1630 or by e-mail: olgcga@btinternet.com.
Many thanksFr Paul.

It started again last weekend!

THE INSTALLATION OF BISHOP JOHN ARNOLD

Bishop John will be installed as the eleventh Bishop of
Salford on Monday 8th December at 11.00 am.
As I am sure you realise, there will be a lot of people
attending the installation. Places are seriously restricted, so if
you would like to put your name into the hat to represent our
parish, please fill in your details on the tear off slip below and
return it to the Parish Office no later than this Sunday eve-
ning (26th October). I have to submit names to the Bishops
Secretary by 1st November, and then he will send a personal
invitation.
There will be a coach leaving from Guardian Angels (for
our side of the deanery), and after the Mass of Installation the
invitation will also include admission to the reception. The
coach will return to Guardian Angels at an agreed time.

These are anonymous comments from
parishioners.

Once again Jesus finds himself being tested by
the Pharisees. This time he is asked to name the greatest law.
He does so, but immediately invokes its complement,
placing love of God and love of neighbour on equal footing.
Indeed, his point is that you cannot have one without the
other.
So let us listen for the challenge today: how is our love
of God reflected in our love of neighbour?
Having your child baptised.
If you are planning on having your child
baptised, please pick up a leaflet from the
Welcome and Information centre, which
outlines our baptism preparation
programme.
Please note that the first thing that parents have to do is contact
the Parish Office (telephone on 0161 764 1630 or call in) to
book onto the First Meeting, held on the first Sunday of each
month. This means that our Baptism Preparation Team have a
workable number of people.

Fr Denis McBrides latest
book:

PRAYING THE ROSARY
A journey through scripture
and art.

Copies of this new book only
arrived in the Parish Office a
week ago, so it is still hot off the
press! We have had time to look
through it and feel that it would
be a real support in praying the
rosary, individually, or as a group. We would highly recom-
mend this book to you.

The format of the book is simple:
1. First there is a reading from the New Testament
2. This is followed by a meditation on the scripture
passage
3. A painting is then included which offers its own take
on the subject
4. There is a brief reflection on the painting
5. Finally there is a prayer on some aspect of the
mystery.

There are copies of Fr Denis new book on sale on the table at
the back of Church this weekend, and available from the Par-
ish Office during the week.

12.95 a copy (136 pages)

OTHER BOOKS AT THE BACK OF CHURCH
Having just had two talks organised by the Department
for Evangelisation in the Diocese, one on St John Paul II and
one this past week on St John XXIII, there is an opportunity
to browse and buy some of the books we got for the talks.
There are also other books on different topics. We wanted to
give you the opportunity to buy them before they are sent
back to our suppliers.
Have a look at them, and if you havent got money
with you today, the person on the bookstall will gladly fill in
your details and we will invoice you for anything you take
away.

Enjoy browsing and get yourself a good book!
This is the last weekend they will be available, as we have to
return them to the suppliers.

(0161 764 1630) as soon as possible. It is a diocesan regulation
