ROLE OF SPORT TOWARDS NURTURING (ENCOURAGING) YOUNG MALAYSIAN

Malaysia and sports development are parallel. Malaysia is a home of many sportsmen and
women. When they heard about Malaysia the first thing in their mind will be Petronas Twin
Tower then sports Icon in Malaysia such as Dato Nicol Ann David and Dato ee !hong Wei.
"oth of them are number # in the world. The Malaysian government invests millions of money in
sports development to get at least # gold medal in $lympics. Potential sports identified and based
on the sport% development program implemented to produce National sport Icon.
The impressions of many parents on sport still below bar. As in Malaysia most of them focused
on Academy rather than sports. They even don&t let their 'ids to involve in (ports. To overcome
this problem the education ministry introduced #M#()# Murid #(u'an* which force the students
to learn at least one sport. This program is the grassroots for the sports development in Malaysia.
The 'ids who see his or her friend play the games% they will actively involve directly and
indirectly. As people said it will be a great jump starts for their head starts.
The role of sport icon in sport development is the ignition% where it will inspire them and
encourage them to involve actively in sport. +or e,ample when many youngster loo' at David
"ec'ham% they also want to be li'e him one day. To achieve this% they wor' hard to be a football
star. In Malaysia they want to be li'e Mo'tar Dahari% Arumugam% Dollah (alleh Nicol% !hong
Wei% (afee (ali% (halin -ul'ifli and many more. This icon will give great impact in their life and
boost them to achieves something in sports and be a podium finisher.
Not only the government% the non.government and the private sector also play the main role to
encourage the youngster to be a sportsman. The Astro% the pay Tv really play the great role in
sport development in Malaysia. It introduced /em "ola)+ootball !amp*%#M!! )#Malaysia
!ardiff !ity* and "adminton camp. It will encourage them to compete among their self to gain a
spot in that program. Moreover the pay Tv hired the e, sportmen and women to be a presenter.
The sports ma'e them to create the carrier part for them.
Apart from this% the talented young teachers& who produced many young and 'id athlete will be
given chance to be a coach. This is not 0ust li'e that. The state education department collaborated
with the state sports bodies to educate this talented teacher to be a coach level by level. Although
they are the teacher% it will help them to create their carrier part as a coach. These talented young
and energetic coaches will polish their potential student to become a great athlete. As people said
from 1ero to hero.
As we see many people really don&t 'now that% the sport really play powerful role in shaping the
youngster. Discipline% honor% respect% self.motivation and punctuality are the main pillars. If the
youngster able to follow this% sure the sport level in Malaysia will be in world standard.
