SIMULATOR TRAINING
TRAINING OVERVIEW
The training is divided into five phases with a blend
of theoretical and practical training with increasing
degrees of difficulty.
Theoretical events will be followed by practical applications in a simulator. The theoretical lessons
are aimed to prepare the students for the simulator
training as well as for future challenges in the AFIS
tower.
Theoretical lessons include: training in Human factors
such as professional conduct, CISM and TRM/CRM as
well as training in AFIS related tasks such as ALRS;
FIS; snow procedures and aircraft performance.
PREREQUISITES
Approved results from the Basic ATS or ATC module
taken at Entry Point North or other equivalent module subject to approval by the Swedish CAA.
OBJECTIVES IN BRIEF
THEORY
Theoretical lessons in subjects covering: AFIS
duties, Traffic information, meteorology, aircraft
operations, winter operations, alerting service,
contingencies & accident investigation, emergency situations & unlawful interference, TRM/

AFIS 4
Arriving and departing IFR and VFR traffic. Vehicle traffic on the manoeuvring area. Crossing
traffic and traffic without flight plan. Change of
runway. Varying time of day. Shifting and difficult
weather situations including poor visibility and
snow clearance.
AFIS 5
System degradation, unusual/emergency situations e.g com-failure, runway incursion, diverting
emergency landing, aborted take-off, aborted
landing, smoke in cabin, landing gear failure etc.
Procedures following an incident/accident. Using
the ATIR form.

It is the first transnational academy specialising in ATM training. Entry Point North is approved by
the Swedish CAA. In accordance with provisions of the EU Directive 2006/23/EC on a Community

offered to customers are carried out in accordance with Best Practice and all international rules and
standards including ICAO and EUROCONTROL ESARR 5.
ENTRY POINT NORTH IS A TOTAL TRAINING SOLUTION PROVIDER. In any given week of the study
year, students or ATCO professionals receive initial training or development training. Students are
fully trained to meet requirements of the appropriate rating whether this is APS, ADI, APP, ACS or
ACP or a combination of these. Specialised programmes are offered within ATS and AFIS training, as
well as development training, human factors and safety courses such as OJTI, OJTI Refresher, Assessor, CAT (Controller Aviation Training), and CRM (Crew Resource Management).
