Pub Meet
14th October, Red Lion, Nantwich
At the last meeting we had a great turn out,
with more members than in the last few
months, drawn in by the promise of sausage
and chips, and the official launch of the new
look CLRC website.
Presented by Ray Yeulet the new site was
very well received, and Ray promised that
there was more to come, with downloads
and additional information being placed
regularly.
Visit www.cheshirelandroverclub.org and let
us know what you think!

Eventsand outings

The show is more than just Land Roverbased, although there were plenty to be
seen amongst the Japanese trucks and
overland-converted ex-Army vehicles. The
trade stands were full of useful ideas for
vehicle improvements and of places to visit.

19-21st Sept, LRO Peterborough

A late entry for us this year due to over

booking, but with a push from our fab
Events Coordinator Mark B we managed to
get a slot at the last minute! The best show
at this ground for several years there was a
lot to see, a lot to buy and a great range of
displays, including a show in the dark!

The date for next year is already in the diary

- late September - and we hope we can put
on even more of a display!
27th Sept, Shropshire
With Mark Birkitt leading the way in the
White Peril with Fiona and the family
providing navigation and entertainment,
Ray, Keith, Billy, Steve and Noel ventured
out for a day across Shropshire.

A really good turn out left us with a cosy
stand next to the toilets (which was very
handy), and much merriment was had, with
regular show attendees and a couple of
show virgins!

Third level

We met up with a few regular stands such

as GLASS and LRO, but also with our new
friends from Key to Africa, finally getting to
have a brew with them after several shows
of promising! For more information on these
guys doing their charity drive down Africa
visit http://www.key2africa.org.uk/.

Fourth level

With lanes varying from mild to moderately

difficult we covered approximately 60 miles
on lanes, and an enjoyable day was had by
all, even with very tight lanes and then when
all roof racks had to be removed!

Fifth level

In the evenings there was the obligatory few

small explosions courtesy of Bazs magic
bottle (with Rogers hair and Steves leg
taking the brunt of it) and a lot of laughs,
plus over the weekend 4 new members
signed up and a lot of money spent on
essential new parts! Role on 2015!
27-28th Sept, Adventure Overland
This year's Adventure Overland Show
returned to the horse racing course at
Stratford upon Avon. As we had not long
completed an adventurous overland trip in
the John OGroats to Lands End trip we felt
that this was an ideal location to publicise it
and gain some new interest in the club.
The organisers gave us plenty of space, so
Russ, Gill, Eddie, Tracey and Chris were
able to spread out the display area. On the
Sunday they were joined by Mark and Roger
which made the display even more
impressive.
.

26th Oct, Melton Mowbray & surrounding

With 9 vehicles, 14 people and 5 dogs
CLRC set off into Leicestershire, not
knowing just what lay in store.
Covering only half of the original route we
covered over 50 miles on lanes, with
difficulty ranging from easy to moderate,
although the mud made for some giggles.
We were very pleasantly surprised with the
quality and quantity if the lanes, and also
amazed at the shear number of off road
motorbikes we encountered! Plus a tool in a
P38 that tagged on! Well done to Graham
for getting to practice his recovery
techniques and pulling him out of the sludge
when he chose his own route!
It is a route we shall definitely visit again,
going the opposite way in order to get in the
second half. Proves that we dont have to
just go north or west!

2015 Mac Challenge TEAM GRUFFALO

Mark Birkitt & Roger Charlesworth
Mark and Roger as Team GRUFFALO have
decided to compete in the Mac 4x4
Challenge 2015 to try and raise as much
money as possible to aid the excellent work
that Macmillan undertake in the support they
give to others.
Over the last six years Mark has lost both
parents to cancer and would like to try give
something back to this excellent charity for
all the support that they give.

Club Clothing
Also from November, and just in time for
Christmas there is to be launched a
complete new range of CLRC Official
Clothing and Merchandise.

The Mac Challenge is a test of navigational

skills, observation, on and off road driving
ability and endurance; by day and night.
Each team consists of only two people and
one vehicle.
Team GRUFFALO will be taking part in
Marks 110, which is being fully sign written
including CLRC Livery for the event.

An eBrochure will be emailed to all

members, detailing the offering, pricing,
sizes and colour options.

To donate to Team GRUFFALO all you

need to do is visit either (or both!)

This range of merchandise will be updated

at least once a year, with specials being
added at interim points.
