Directors Journal
As I was the director I had to work directly with each member of my group; Ayan
Magudia, who was the cameraperson, and Mehak Hussain, who was the editor and
sound person.
Although, we were given segregated roles in the group, we had worked as a team in
order to make satisfactory decisions, by consulting each other we made sure that all
members of the group were contented with the decision. For instance, Whilst filming,
both myself and Ayan were present. We had had to film three times in order to get
the right shots, angles and movements. After this, the role of editing and sound was
given to Mehak who consulted with me when choosing the correct sound for our
production. My main role was to direct at the time of filming and to ensure that both
members of my group were doing their rightful job at every meeting, whether it was
filming or editing. I also had to make sure that they were given manageable tasks to
complete for the next meeting, and to check that the quality of their work was at a
high standard before uploading on to the blog.
I aimed to have the groups planning and research completed before we filmed with
the intention to have a clear idea on what was to be done when filming. However, we
did not manage to achieve this goal because it was clear that on the day of filming.
Further ideas would influence our final product and therefore the planning and
research carried out. I was aware that it would have a negative effect on the timing of
our completion date and so would have to work extra hard to meet deadlines, and
increase the number of meetings that we had in a week Once the planning and
research was completed, it was my job to read through all the work in order to
guarantee that all information included was accurate. There were a few setbacks in
the work produced by the group, and so a build-up of additional work became
apparent. This was handled well and addressed as first priority. On the days of
filming, despite having a story board to guide us, there were a few quarrels that took
place when it came to deciding on shots, angles and movements of the camera
between me and the camera person though, these were quickly handled and we
managed to get a successful outcome in our final day of filming. Another issue that
came about on the days of filming were deciding what days to film. It became
increasingly difficult to settle on convenient filming day but, we still manages this.
I kept a constant update with the editor to ensure that the production was completed
on time, and Mehak managed this really well. As a group, we constantly went of the
storyline to ensure it was clear to all members in the group, me included. We also
had to do this to understand how we were going to present the storyline with
development through the cinematography and the different sounds which were to be
included in the opening sequence. We had to also consider all the other factors of
editing and cinematography for our production
Accurate timing from one shot to another
Colour
Settings
Titles were professional and suitable for the genre
Shots and angles were professional
Made sure that we didnt use any shots which included people walking in the
background or any other mistakes of this sort
Sounds were in sync and fit the scene (suitable for the genre)

Again, this was done to our best ability. I believe that the group worked well in order
to achieve a good standard of work, despite the lack of accuracy in time
management.
Issues that I feel, could have been handled better is firstly the time management of
the group and secondly, the availability of the group. I understood that meetings were
difficult to organise outside of class times. The level of work required to be completed
required obligated attention, which we were unable to provide, hence why we were
set back. Despite this, we began to make general progress with time management
nearer to the end of our production work.
Being the director meant that I was constantly involved in the work produced by other
members of the group whilst they worked. For that reason, I certified all the work that
had been done by making sure it met my standard of high level of work. Providing
opinions in the group offered a level of attainment and therefore, proved that was a
group we were pleased with the final production.
Overall, I was pleased with the final product because it went beyond my level of high
expectations and I knew that as a group we worked to the very best of our ability.
