Self-Reflection

My group’s pitch was always focused on satellites, but we weren’t sure how to fully
execute and express how we’d educate others on it. As I researched, the satellite was a
complex subject, so I had to figure out which aspect we wanted to focus on. We mutually agreed
on focusing on telling the basics of satellites and their uses through media found online and
videos we’d record ourselves. As the writer, I wanted to make our video understandable since it
was already a complex topic to speak on.

The activities that take place during the Pre-Production phase are writing the script and
creating ideas for the film. The writing went well, and Kenicia and I both worked well with each
other. What I liked about working with Kenicia, is that we both bounce ideas off each other, and
it made the writing process easier and avoided complications.

During the production process, collecting interviews, filming shots, capturing b roll,
reshoots, and voice-overs are conducted. Kenicia and I filmed our segments separately and
filmed a shot together via Facetime. Our shots all involved staying indoors, so filming wasn’t an
issue. The only issue was keeping everything under 2 minutes. Even the voice-overs were
important to not keep too long or else we’d go over the time limit. I had to refilm voice-overs a
couple of times because the video passed the limit, but we eventually nailed it down.

The activities that took place during the Post-Production phase were editing and
assembling audio. The editing went well because Kenneth gathered all the footage and audio
together, and it worked out just fine. The only trouble was where we got some footage from, but
it was not an issue. We overcame it because we had to delete the website's name we got the
footage from on some footage, which Kenneth fixed in post.

My favorite part of the production process was the Production Process. I feel that the
production process is the most important part because it’s the stage that really brought a
filmmaker’s ideas to life. It was also the stage that my whole group became involved, although
we had divided jobs in the groups. It was enjoyable to watch our idea come together and
become executed. My group and I also gave each other constructive criticism and learned from
each other.

My strengths were writing, working collaboratively, and coming up with ideas, and my
weaknesses are probably filming only because I didn’t have the right tools and equipment to film
in order to contribute more to the project. I can improve my strengths even more by writing in my
free time and also reading to help with my storytelling skills. I can strengthen my weakness by
borrowing filming equipment and working with different people.
I believe my group met the program objective. I believe my group approached the
objective in a way that our video can be understood by anyone, and not just by using confusing
space terminology. Furthermore, I also agree that our video agreed and is suitable with its
genre. The clips we incorporated that we filmed made sense with the topic and also educated
the viewers at the same time. The video also did transfer the way we envisioned it. My main
objective while writing was, I didn’t want to make a complicated and confusing video that
someone who is new to learning about space exploration wouldn’t be able to understand it.
