The limitations of traditional design methods are overcome
by a lateral method of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) . FEA as
it is commonly known has delivered accurate designs, and has
increasing evolved as an indispensable tool for the modern design
engineer.
To fuel the growth in design industry, the concept of Finite
Element Analysis has been a key aspect. Finite Element Analysis has
been the back bone of current design softwares like ANSYS,
ABACUS, NASTRAN etc.

the tools like ANSYS and are ignoring the core concepts of Finite
Element Analysis. This lack of core concepts is churning out
Software Operators, wherein the Engineers lack the tenacity of
creative design. This limitation of knowledge is creating great
stumbling blocks in their careers.
Hence we at Vaftsy thought of a complete course, which trains
professionals not only in ANSYS, but also imparts understanding of
the core FEA with all of its basic theory

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering with special focus on FEA
7+ yrs of experience as an Industrial FEA consultant, he has
worked with the top engineers with various German,
French, Italian companies.
He has published over 50 research papers in the field of FEA
with greater focus on advanced techniques like Seismic
Analysis, Hysteresis Analysis, ASME Standards, Composites.
He has been the external guide to masters students from
IIT's, NIT's, VJTI, COEP, and also assisted students from
foreign universities such as Coventry (UK), Cranfield (UK,
Kiel (Germany), Michigan (USA), Arizona (USA)
He has received certification from College Learning and
Reading Association (CLRA, USA), as Trainer.
Additionally the institute also has Mr. Manan Panchal, who is
MTech from NIT, Surat, as a Project Supervisor for the students.

Background of the course

L EVEL 1 C OURSE
the Mechanical Engineering industry is experiencing
C urrently
a revolution. Outsourcing has contributed to a huge growth
of this sector. But educational institutions have not been able
to cope up with the new demands of the growth scenario.

On our discussion with industry, the overwhelming point that came

across was that engineers were trained in SOFTWARE, and are
making the mistake of treating tools like ANSYS as design software
like CATIA or PRO-E.
ANSYS or other FEA tools cannot be picked by just learning steps as
if it was a tutorial. FEA has its own core knowledge, and without
this knowledge engineers end up as being just SOFTWARE
OPERATORS - they know the steps of analysis but lack decision

making skills.
Our endeavor is to develop DESIGN ENGINEERS. We believe that
there is enough talent out there that just needs the right kind of
grooming, so that it can excel in the design fraternity.
We do not want software operators; hence we have not
introduced a course in ANSYS, and instead we want to groom the
professionals at the fundamentals. Hence we have introduced a
course in Finite Element Analysis: the core engine that drives the
design process and in ANSYS we cover examples of practical
significance with relevant projects.
The comprehensive project is an Industrial Project, in fact some of
our students have successfully completed their Masters Thesis on
the projects done in our institute

C ERTIFICATION

he course has been designed as per the US GPA (Grade Point

Average) System. The evaluation is a combination of tests and
projects and the grade is assigned as per the scoring in them

The test is an Online Multiple Choice Question test based on the

syllabus covered. It has theory fundamentals, and includes point to
point questions asked in interviews and orals

The Project is evaluated by an industry expert (min 5+ yrs exp) who

comments on the quality of the work. The guiding points for this
evaluation are
Accuracy of FEA results
Usage of tool (Mesh quality, naming standards)
Result interpretation and explanation offered
Presentation Quality of reports
PPT presentation points
Additionally, publishing of research papers adds to the grade.
The Certification is done by VAFTSY, which will certify the quality
and skill of test taker in the field of FEA
Additionally a Project Completion letter is also provided on
satisfactory completion of Project. This document is helpful in
applying for scholarships in foreign universities and also for Job
Interviews.
