Defensive Combat () God Machine p. 176


Prerequisite: Brawl or Weaponry ; choose one when this Merit is selected
Effect: You are training in avoiding damage in combat. Use your Brawl or Weaponry to calculate Defense rather than
Athletics. You can learn both versions of this Merit, allowing you to use any of the three Skills to calculate Defense.
However, you cannot use Weaponry to calculate Defense unless you actually have a weapon in hand.

Prerequisites: Ordo Dracul Status
Effect: The Ordo Dracul exist within one of the most secret of secret societies. But many of its members participate in
other such organizations in mortal (or other) spheres. Members of such secret societies tend to draw toward the Dragon,
like a moths to a flame. When the vampire takes Status or Mystery Cult Initiation (see p. 121) reflecting non-Kindred
organizations, she also gains Herd dots equal to the Merit.

Light Weapons (Style, to ) God Machine p. 178


Prerequisites: Wits or Fighting Finesse, Dexterity , Athletics , Weaponry
Effect: Your character is trained with small hand-to-hand weapons that favor finesse over raw power. These
maneuvers may only be used with one-handed weapons that have a damage rating of 2 or less.
Rapidity (): Your character moves with swiftness to find just the right spot to strike. You can sacrifice your
characters weapon damage rating to add her Weaponry score to her Initiative for the turn. The weapon becomes a 0
damage weapon for the turn.
Thrust (): Your character knows when to defend herself and when to move in for the kill. At any time, you can
sacrifice points of Defense one-for-one to add to attack pools. This cannot happen if youve already used Defense in the
same turn. If you use this maneuver, you may not sacrifice your full Defense for any other reason. For example, you
cannot use Thrust with an all-out attack.

Murder Expert () Slasher p. 127


Prerequisite: Intelligence , Stealth
Effect: You may not be any good in a fight, but it doesnt matter. You understand the language of murder in a way that
few others do. Youre a connoisseur of death, skilled at bringing other people to their ends. When you attempt a surprise
attack in combat, if your target doesnt detect your attack (and would normally not apply Defense), you instead strike a
killing blow (World of Darkness Rulebook, p. 168).
Drawback: You must name your target on the turn before you attack you cant choose to slaughter whoever is
slowest that turn.

Prerequisites: Ordo Dracul Status
Effect: Your character is not only a member of the Ordo Dracul, shes sworn to serve one of its branches. When taking
this Merit, choose to which faction she belongs (the Axe, the Dying Light, or Mysteries typically). She gains dots equal
to her Covenant Status to split between the Mentor and Retainer Merits. These reflect teachers and wards within the
faction. She can swap these Merits out between chapters, as she receives new assignments.
Sworn of the Axe must defend the sanctity of the Orders secrets. Theyre the soldiers and assassins expected to clean
up any leaks. If a Dragon leaks knowledge of the Coils, they can expect a visit from the Sworn of the Axe.
Sworn of the Dying Light act as the research and development wing of the Ordo Dracul. The Sworn dedicate
themselves to learning, teaching, and creating Coils. Sworn of the Mysteries are the guiding hands of the Order
as a whole. They make sweeping decisions determining thecovenants political and social directions. Theyre expected
to know the affairs of all local chapter houses.
Drawback: Being Sworn is no easy task. It means being tied inexorably to the covenant, with deep and timedemanding responsibilities. Your character cannot go two full nights without devoting at least some time to covenant
affairs, or shell be punished.

Atavism () Slasher p. 127


Prerequisite: Dexterity or Wits , Intelligence or below.
Effects: Youre a throwback to a time when men were closer to beasts. Whether your mental state
matches a warped and twisted body, or you look out of a normal face with the eyes of an ancient predator, youre not
normal. You run on instinct more than intellect, your body moving in response to signals that your brain never
consciously registers. Like an animal, you use the higher of your Dexterity and Wits to determine your Defense.
Available at character creation only.
Drawback: Other people can see that look in your eyes and know that somethings wrong. You suffer a -2 modifier on
non-confrontational Social rolls. If you raise your Intelligence above then you no longer benefit from this merit.

Shiv ( or ) God Machine p.179


Prerequisites: Street Fighting , Weaponry
Effect: Your character carries small, concealable weapons for use in a tussle. Rolls to detect the concealed weapon
suffer your characters Weaponry score as a penalty. With the one-dot version, she can conceal a weapon with a 0
damage rating. The two-dot version can conceal a 1 damage rating weapon. Your character may use the Brawl Skill to
use this weapon.

Street Fighting (Style, to ) God Machine p.179


Prerequisites: Stamina , Composure , Brawl , Streetwise
Effect: Your character learned to fight on the mean streets. She may have had some degree of formal train ing, but the
methodology came from the real world in dangerous circumstances. Street Fighting isnt about form and grace. Its
about staying alive. These maneuvers may only be used unarmed, with weapons capable of using the Brawl Skill (such
as punch daggers), or weapons concealed with the Shiv Merit (above).
Duck and Weave (): Your character has been beaten all to hell more than a few times. Now she dodges on instinct, not
on skill. You can reflexively take a one-die penalty to any actions this turn in order to use the higher of her Wits and
Dexterity to calculate Defense. If youve already made a roll without penalty this turn, you cannot use Duck and Weave.
Knocking the Wind Out (): Shots to the center mass can shake an opponent, and your character knows this well.
When your character makes a successful unarmed attack, the opponent suffers a 1 to his next roll.

Obtenebration
The Khaibit gift of Obtenebration expresses their affinity for the darkness within their blood. In addition to the ability to
control and shape shadows, Khabit can temporarily become darkness and travel through the darkness. Lastly, they can
wield the shadows as a weapon against otherworldly forces. This makes them invaluable against the Strix.
All Khaibit gain the first Devotion, the Udjat, upon joining the bloodline. Additional Devotions have prerequisites as
normal, and cost 2 Experiences each. For those that have never seen Obtenebration, it can inspire deep, instinctive fear.
The first time a character experiences a clear manifestation of Obtenebration, he must succeed at a Resolve +
Composure roll or suffer the Shaken Condition.
Udjat
This most basic gift of Khaibit heritage gives them perfect sight in even the utmost darkness. Khaibit never suffer
penalties from darkness, and see subtle shifts in heat and movement where others would be blind. They are unaffected
by blindness induced by injury or supernatural forces.

By focusing her attention and spending a point of Vitae, a Khaibit can attune her senses to the unseen. This allows her to
see spirits, Strix, angels, and other immaterial beings for the scene. This includes beings in Twilight. While she has her
senses so enhanced, shes immune to the Strixs possession.
Tyet
By opening a vein, the Khaibit can release the darkness within her blood as an instant action, blanketing the area in
darkness. With the expenditure of a single Vitae, the cloud of shadow extends out from the wound in a radius a number
of yards (or meters) equal to the vampires Blood Potency. The Khaibit can expend more Vitae to expand the cloud
further from its center. Alternatively, the Khaibit can expel the cloud from her mouth instead of an open wound.
Shadows touching those the Khaibit has created with the Tyet become hers to shape. She can manipulate their forms,
absorb them into the cloud, and otherwise mold them to her liking. While the shadows have no physical presence, they
can be used to divert, trick, and distract.
Prerequisite: Vigor 2
Pseshkf
This signature gift of the Khaibit allows her to draw the shadows into a palpable form with the expenditure of one or
more Vitae and an instant action. She can use this to coat simple tools or weapons. Weapons so coated cause 1
additional lethal damage to physical targets (including Kindred), but cause her Blood Potency in lethal damage to
noncorporeal entities, including spirits and Strix. Coated objects add her Blood Potency as Durability, and the number
of Vitae spent as Structure. If she possesses Tyet as well, she can manipulate the item coated with Pseshkf as if she were
touching it with her hands.
Prerequisite: Vigor 2
Ba
Khaibit can draw shadow to themselves, and become one with the darkness. To use the Ba, the Khaibit must be
touching a shadow at least as big as herself (this could include her own shadow in many cases, or shadow created by the
Tyet). She spends three points of Vitae, and at least one instant action, or more if her Blood Potency means she cannot
spend the entirety in a turn. Once shes become shadow, shes immune to anything short of fire, sunlight, the Pseshkf, or
things that specifically hurt ephemeral entities. Other ephemera can affect her normally. She is immune to abjuration.
In this form, she cannot directly affect her environment. However, she can activate the Pseshkf if she possesses it, and
can assail spirits and other ephemeral creatures. While in this form, fire, sunlight, and other forms of harm cause her
two additional levels of damage. She travels at half her Speed, and must travel along solid objects. However, shes not
constrained by anything that wouldnt stop light.
Prerequisite: Obfuscate 2
Iteru
With this gift, the Khaibit can travel rapidly through shadows. She dissolves into one part of the shadow, and emerges
anywhere along the same patch of shade. This can be shadow created by the Tyet. Spend a Vitae reflexively, and the
character fades into and out of the shadow instantly. If using this as part of a Dodge action, roll her Dodge with the rote
quality once per scene.
