IN REMEMBRANCE
Phyllis Blake Ozimek

Phyllis Blake Ozimek, 80, formerly of Rye, NY


and Ponte Vedra Beach, FL died peacefully
in her home in Warren, NJ on March 7, 2015
from complications as
the result of Alzheimers disease. She was
born in Philadelphia,
PA on October 11,
1934 to the late Alfred
Greene Blake, former
CEO of Engelhard
Co., and Mildred
Inez Cordeaux. She
graduated from Smith College in 1956
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology
with peers who led the womans liberation
movement. She then completed a one year
business program at Harvard- Radcliff in
1960 and ultimately earned her MBA at Pace
University in 1985. Phyllis had a successful career as a computer programmer and
systems analyst and during her final years
working, she was a Vice-President in charge
of financial systems at New York Life Insurance Company. Phyllis was predeceased by
her husband of 51 years, Richard Ozimek
who passed away in the fall of 2014. She is
survived by her brother Johnson C. (Jack)
Blake of Kiawah Island, SC and her two
daughters, Kimberley Vessa and husband
Paul of Bernardsville, NJ and Elizabeth Crowley and husband Charlie of Ridgewood,
NJ. Phyllis is also survived by her seven
grandchildren Blake, Taylor, Michael, Claire,
Colin, Edie, and Ian, who will all miss her
dearly. Phyllis loved to spend time with her
family and enjoyed shopping and keeping
a beautiful home. She possessed a bright,
curious mind and loved to laugh. There will
be a memorial celebration for Phyllis and
Richard in Rye, NY in the spring. All services
are private under the direction of Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home. For further

Tebow returns to Ponte Vedra for


star-studded gala, golf tourney

TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra was in
high swing last Friday as the Tim Tebow
Foundation hosted its Celebrity Gala for
the 5th Annual Celebrity Golf Classic.

Tonight isnt about football, said


Chairmen and Founder of the Foundation, Tim Tebow, its about the kids that
were helping all over the world; their
stories, their faces thats more important than anything else I can do right

now. Im excited to be here tonight.


Other celebrities in attendance included Artis Gilmore, retired Hall of
Fame NBA basketball player, Evander
Holyfield, retired American professional
boxer, Jake Owen, Country music artist,
Scott Van Pelt, ESPN analyst and sports
talk show host, and Danny Wuerffel,
1996 Heisman trophy winner.
In total, over 25 celebrities and many
more guests walked the Red Carpet up
to the gala to support the foundation,
which has a mission statement that
seeks to bring faith, hope, and love to
those needing a brighter day in their
darkest hour of need.
The Celebrity Golf Classic, which
took place Saturday, is a signature fundraising event for the Tim Tebow Foundation that helps supports that mission
statement. It creates a family-friendly
environment for participants of all ages
while also bringing in celebrities and
support from all over the world.
Im here for the cause, said Shawne
Merriman, former NFL football player
with the San Diego Chargers and the
Buffalo Bills. Any time you have someone with as big of a heart of Tim, and

he invites you out for a great cause, you


have to come out and support him. Ive
never met a person that does as much
as he does, and Im glad to be a part
of it.
Tebow throws the credit back to the
cause, too.

Whatever platform I can use to impact peoples lives, thats my goal, said
Tebow.
Right now, the Tim Tebow Foundation is a great avenue for that. Its bigger
than any job or profession; its having
a life of significance, and thats what I
want.
