Local Elections - THREE new councillors Three new Labour councillors were sworn in on
Monday at Bristol City Council.
Celia Phipps for Bedminster (maj. 263) Craig Cheney for Hillfields (maj.1155) and Eileen Means for Brislington West (maj.216). We are delighted to have their talents and energies on board especially as we face two elections for Mayor in May 2016 and all 70 councillors on new Eileen ward boundaries on the same date.

Local Elections - TWO new MPs and Kerry re-elected
Success for Labour in three Bristol seats, Kerry McCarthy returned for Bristol East, Karin Smyth for Bristol South and a remarkable Labour gain for Thangam Debbonaire in Bristol West. Great challenges from Labour in Kingswood from Jo McCarron, in North West from Darren Jones and in Filton and Bradley Stoke from Ian Boulton did not meet with the success we had hoped, though polls suggested these seats were close. Some excellent and energetic campaigns deserved better. Activists and party members at all levels are assessing what went well what went wrong. One word of caution no-one predicted this election result. Even the exit poll did not predict a Tory majority. There are multiple reasons and multiple variations and regional variations. Assessment and future plans deserve a calm and fully-considered examination.
