BRIEF TITLE: Via Creative / T-shirt Design / 99 Problems

Brief: To design a graphic interpretation of a chosen song lyric to be used on a t-shirt.

Background:
Choose from the following lyrics:
-99 problems but a bitch aint one-JayZ
-Strawberry fields forever-Beatles
-All you need is love-Beatles
-Lights will guide you home-Coldplay
-Yellow-Coldplay
-Why does it always rain on me-Travis
-Fat bottomed girls-Queen
-The writings on the wall-Destinys Child
-Night swimming-REM
Considerations:
-

Needs to be illustrative opposed to typography

The target audience will be researched depending on the song choice

As limited colours will be used they need to be bold or compliment each other and work with
the stock to have an impact.

Mandatory Requirements:
-30cm wide x 40cm high
-Max 2 spot colours

The target audience will be aimed at people that have an interest in music and custom band tshirts.

Evaluation:
Positives/
A positive of the brief was the design had a concept behind it rather than just making some
thing that looked good but had no meaning. I chose to do this brief as it was small with a
quick turn around so it was a good introductory brief to get me back into the design process.
Negatives/
As the brief was small I didnt do much development or push it too far out my comfort zone.
What I would do differently next time?
I feel I could of experimented more with some traditional printing methods such lino-cut . I
also wish I had gone further with the brief. Rather than creating the design on screen and
leaving it there, I should of printed the design onto t-shirt myself. This would of allowed me to
try out different colour ways on different coloured t-shirts. Over all it was a fun little brief that
was for a good cause.
