PMK Founder Dr. S. Ramadoss Statement

PEOPLE PUT INTO HARDSHIP FOR

JAYALALITHAA: CURSE OR CONSPIRACY?
The haughtiness to have an extravagant swearing in ceremony for Jayalalithaa as the Chief Minister
for the fifth time is causing huge hardships for the Chennaites and is causing frustration and animosity
for the entire state. If the beginning itself is so gross people are worried what is in store for them in
the coming year.
Jayalalitha is crowning again due to a disputable judgement in the corruption case. The meeting of
the legislators and Jayalalithaas procession which preceded this will be written in the darkest pages
of Tamil Nadu history. Though the ADMK legislators meeting took only 5 minutes from 7.00 am
yesterday morning and Jayalalithaa left Poes garden at the auspicious time of 1.28 pm fixed by
astrologists, all arterial roads in Chennai remained closed from 11.00 am itself. Anna salai, Chamiers
road, Kotturpuram road, Dr Radhakrishnan road and other important roads were closed for hours for
Jayalalithaas procession. Since corporation buses and other private vehicles were diverted from these
important roads people were made to walk miles in the melting heat of 110 degrees Fahrenheit.
Many women and children who waited in the stationary vehicles blocked by traffic police fainted
inside their vehicles. It took more than 3 hours to cross distances that would normally take minutes.
The traffic jam which started at 11.00 am cleared only at eight oclock at night. Many emergency
vehicles were also caught in this traffic jam causing severe distress to those who were seriously ill.
Giant hoardings blocking the pedestrian paths caused hardships for the pedestrians. A mammoth
hoarding put by Minister B.V. Ramana crashed on a transport bus. This caused huge traffic congestion.
What was even distressing was there were no traffic policemen to handle this.
More than 10000 policemen in the Chennai metropolitan were diverted for Jayalalithaas security
and there was no one to protect the citizens of the city. There were chain snatching, cell phone thefts
and other crimes all over the city. People who approached police stations to report crimes were
rejected and sent back citing there were no one to register cases. Yesterday became a field day for
thieves and antisocial elements.

Date:
Large scale violations of laws and norms for Jayalalitha annoyed everyone. These remind us of the
traffic blockades of 1991-96 during Jayalalithaas regime and the curse of the people and the
punishment ultimately given to her. Similarly on the May 16th, 2011 when Jayalalithaa went to garland
MGRs statue huge traffic jam occurred. Jayalalithaa apologised at that time and promised that traffic
will not be kept in hold on her passage. We can understand her personality by seeing what she is
doing today forgetting all these things.
When Jayalalitha was out of power people were put into distress by withholding public welfare
schemes. Her returning to the power itself is causing this amount of torment. Is this a curse or
conspiracy?
Jayalalitha is not totally released from the disproportionate assets case. The judgement is under
scrutiny for ignoring the directions of the apex court and huge calculation errors. She may have been
acquitted by the high court but she remains culpable before the public eye.
Jayalalitha herself know that she may have to face legal issues once the Karnataka government
takes a decision on appealing against the verdict day after tomorrow. Hence she is rushing to swear
in. It is possible things can change unfavourably for Jayalalithaa in the coming weeks and she may
have to step down again. If this much of abuse of power and arrogance are leased in this volatile
situation itself it is a nightmare to think what all will happen if everything would be in her favour. She
will be travelling even faster hereafter because she is going to have a free fall from now onwards.

Yours,

(Dr. S.Ramadoss)
