Question3
Puntos: 1
Read the following text and answer the question true or false.
TEXT
Recently, I read a newspaper article about toys that were taken into space, but they weren't taken
for diversions. The astronauts used them for science experiments!
Astronaut John Casper had a ball that was attached to a cup with a string. He tried to get the ball
into the cup. This task was much harder than it sounds because there is no gravity to pull the ball
down.
Astronaut Mario Run co performed some experiments with a toy car and a track. On Earth, he had
pushed a toy car around a circular track that stood on its side. The car went around the track until
friction of the wheels to a stop. Because there is no gravity in space, the car stayed on the track and
didn't fall off.
What is my point? If NASA is going to waste billions of critical dollars on the space shuttle program
so people can play with toys in space, then they should send children like us on these missions! If
they want to test toys, they should go to the experts - kids!
There are obvious benefits to letting kids perform these experiments. Kids who are chosen would
get fantastic training that they could use in their future. Back on Earth, they could share their
enthusiasm. This, in turn, would make other kids support NASA. Remember, kids grow up to
become voters! Most important, using kids to perform these experiments would allow the astronauts
to spend their time on more crucial matters. NASA could also send two ninety-pound kids for every
180-pound adult.
Do you need more reasons? Think about this. Most kids play on sports teams, so we know about
teamwork and playing by the rules. Finally, space travel may well become an everyday event in the
near future. Children need to be prepared.
Please, fellow students, talk to your parents and your teachers. E-mail your senators and
representatives. We desperately need to stand together on this important issue. Children belong in
space!
According to the text, space travel will never be possible.
