raised myself sixty feet

above the ground into a
150 year-old canyon live oak.
There, I grabbed the large
branch in front of me, almost
hugging it, so that for a moment I could rest still and not
sway from the ropes. It was
then that I realized that even
holding on the branch, I was
still swaying, for the tree itself

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL EXPERIENCE 2015

A Powerful Week Indeed!

This years VBS, Everest Conquering Challenges with Gods Mighty Power,
was an amazing five day-five mile high expedition! Challenging? Heck yes,
but Gods power to provide, comfort, heal, forgive, and love us forever,
blessed and strengthened us as we scaled nearer to the mountain top,
safely reaching the summit on the fifth day! We celebrated and shared
our week-long experiences at VBS Sunday on June 19th, right at the base
of Mt. Everest where we camped (aka Fellowship Hall ;)
Our climbing crews peaked: 17 young hikers, 13 youth helpers, and 10
adults! There were mountain top rescues, and we even met and learned
about a variety of animals Bible Buddies, who actually live in this minus 40 degree environment, brrr! A MOUNTAIN Of THANKS To Our Crew: #1: Thank You, God!
Stage Set-up & Decorations: Thunder, Yani (Ione), Chrysan, Amy, Sandy, and I
CD Copies of Everest music: Barb Peebles Office Support: Monica Lanz
Everest Base Camp Sing & Play Station: All climbers and crew met with me here each morning
to learn songs and prepare for the day ahead.
Imagination Station: Gretchen Rugh made instant snow, a rope of bubbles, leapin blizzards,
and more! (she also prepared all computer slides for VBS, Worship, & slide show!)
Bible Expedition Adventures: Pastor Danny brought stories of Elijah, Naaman, and Jesus to
life, with Ethan Bradfields assistance (he helped with many activities!)
Mountain Top Treats Caf: Special snacks & treats prepared daily by Sandy Jeglum (my partner in CE for 20+ years), Chrysan Naw, Amy Thein, Sumbal Sardar, Pat Cohen (who also took
charge of registration & offering), and Sarah Stolze (Cafeteria Lady at 5th Day Summit Celebration)
KidVid Cinema Station: Lacey Torres & TJ Hillig presented real-life kid videos, Bible Buddies,
and shared God Sightings!
Climbing Crew Leaders & Helpers: Dena Johnson, Marlenne Martinez, Kassidy Schwaben, Madison Kobel, Michael Martinez, Samantha Kobel, Caitlyn Ruiz, Salina Ortiz, Sierra Adams, Jonathan Valencia, Casey Jarros, & Bryce Zubyk!
I truly appreciate and love my church family, and I thank you for supporting Christian Education and our Youth!
Blessings to all,
Scheri Dubon
