EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
2015 (SPRING)
Notes: * To participate in any activity taking place after school, the
$30.00 extracurricular activities fee must be sent to the "MCPS central office".
DO NOT MAKE CHECKS OUT TO ROBERT FROST.
(Fee forms can be obtained at the After-School Activities Bulletin Board,
at the MCPS Website, and in the main office.)
* In order to remain in any after-school activity students must maintain a 2.0 grade
point average (GPA) with the exception of these clubs:
- Wootton Tutoring
-Homework Club
- Algebra Tutoring
* Students will be assigned to clubs on a first-come-first-served basis. Some clubs have
limited space, so students should sign up promptly to get the clubs they want.
* Students who stay after school must be under adult supervision by 2:50pm until 4:15 pm.
* There will be no clubs during the month of January.
* Spring clubs will begin Tuesday, February 3rd and end Thursday, June 4th unless
otherwise noted. Sign-up for spring clubs will be held in January.

Students who play string instruments will have the opportunity to


perform duets, trios, and quartets.

The Environmental Club is a group dedicated to protecting the
environment. We will be discussing the impacts of pollution and
how to spread awareness about protecting our environment by
suggesting green alternatives here at Frost and throughout our
community. Also, we will be working to organize a lake cleanup
that will take place before the end of the year.

Students will have the opportunity to play a variety of board


games such as chess, checkers, Monopoly, and others.

GIRLS ON THE RUN

Students will spend time with senior citizens at The Village at


Rockville doing activities such as art, music, fitness, book club,
current event discussions, and technology courses.

Girls on the Run is designed to address challenges middle school girls


face by empowering them to make thoughtful and healthy decisions on
certain topics including eating disorders, internet safety, relationships,
cyber-bullying and tobacco and alcohol use. We use physical activity to
inspire and motivate girls throughout the program, to encourage lifelong
health and fitness, and most importantly, to build confidence through
accomplishment. At the end of the season, the girls and their running
buddies complete a 5k running event.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB

Students will help plan activities to foster the awareness and an


appreciation of the many cultures that make up Frost. They
will also help prepare for International Night taking place in May.

LYLAS

Leading Young Ladies Achieving Success: a mentoring group


designed especially for 7th & 8th grade girls. The purpose is to
provide a safe place for girls to discuss issues and topics that
are important to their academic, social, and emotional
development. Weekly discussions focus on positive life choices,
making new friends, & sharing experiences.

3 to 5 students so gather up your friends and see Mr. Anton for

INTRAMURAL SPORTS Intramural sports are offered to students after school on Tuesdays,

Wednesdays, and Thursdays (Fall and Spring). A variety of athletic activities are planned. See
Ms. Nechanicky for a schedule of activities, or talk to your P.E. teacher.

responsible for providing transportation unless my child can ride the activity bus.
The activity bus transports students to the Willows, Dufief, Rio, and Travilah areas only.
The bus leaves Frost at 4:15pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
