necessary for taskbased activities, practicing taskbased learning key aspects and stages, as
well as conducting a handson activity applying taskbased learning. Participants will finally
discuss how teachers can apply the taskbased approach in the multicultural classroom.
Ms. Gina Roman
Gina has lived in Guadalajara for 8 years and throughout her stay in La
Perla Tapata, shes juggled working as a Translator/Interpreter, Journalist, language
Learning Instructor and Health & Fitness Advisor. Amongst the courses taught, shes worked
with High School students and young athletes who want to study abroad as a well as with
professionals such as Doctors, Lawyers and IPADE Directors who study an MBA at different
universities throughout Guadalajara. Courses taught: TOEFL IBT/PBT, TOEIC, ACT, SSAT,
LSAT, GRE, Cambridge, IELTS, Journalism and advanced writing workshops, etc. In addition
she gives language training and support in the following areas: Engineering, Architecture,
Law, Medicine, Tourism, Education, or according to her students needs.
CR08 ESL Teachers Training Certification. English/ All grades
This multimedia presentation will introduce the new Certification Training program for
English teachers available at The Language Institute in August 2013. This session will cover
the ideas behind the design of the course, the requirements and an overview of the
program. The overview will contain curriculum information, teaching approaches for the
course, and the expected outcome for each participant. A question and answer period will
follow.

W002 Education through art: The value of art in the ESL classroom. English/ All
grades
Art is a universal form of communication. Through art children and adolescents learn about
their surroundings, express their feelings and socialize. In education through art, art is seen
as a medium of integration of both the affective and the cognitive domain. This workshop
will provide teachers with some dynamics in which the visual arts serve us as tool for
learning English as a second language.
