Romeo + Juliet Final Project – due APRIL 6

In Romeo and Juliet, there are many types of love that are explored – romantic love between
Romeo and Juliet, parental love between Juliet and her parents, family love between the Capulets or the
Montagues, friendly love between Romeo and his friends, the love that Nurse has for Juliet, etc. Your job
is to choose one or more of those types and create a final project on it.
You will be doing a short presentation in front of the class to show off your project – maximum 2
minutes. Projects are due and presentations will be done on Tuesday, April 6. If you know you are going
to be absent, get it in before! If it’s late, it’s automatically half credit! NO EXCEPTIONS! 100 points
possible!

You will choose ONE of the following:

 Writing
o To be done on your own
o Type a comparison/contrast essay on two types of love from the play. What is the same
about these types? What is different about these types? Make sure you cite lines from
the play to prove your points. Must be at least two pages, double-spaced.
o Presentation: choose your favorite paragraph and read it in front of the class.
 Performance
o In groups of 1 - 3
o In front of the class, act out a scene from the play showing a type of love AND act out a
scene from modern day, real-life showing the same type of love in our times.
o Lines must be memorized and costumes and props of some sort are required.
o Presentation: acting out your scenes in front of the class.
 Visual Arts
o To be done on your own
o Create a visually pleasing collage of at least one type of love from the play (you may
include more than one kind of love).
o Must include references to specific characters and lines in the play that are examples of
the types of love you have chosen.
o Presentation: pointing out some specific references, explaining some parts of your
collage in front of the class.

NECESSARY ELEMENTS:
 Explain/make clear the type of love that you are focusing on
