Executive Summary

For our project we got the opportunity to conduct an interview with the City Bank. From the
interview we got an idea about how things actually work in the corporate world and how the
Information System plays an important role in any bank. Citibank is a consumer division of
financial services multinational Citigroup.
This report basically points out these requirements - Role of information system, Apply System
Approach to Understand Information Systems, Information Systems and Web Technology,
Technical Understanding, Information Systems Security. In this report well get to know all
about these requirements.

1.0 Introduction
The City Bank is one of the most established private Commercial Banks working in Bangladesh.
It is a top bank among the most seasoned five Commercial Banks in the nation. It began their

operations in 1983. The Bank began its adventure on 27th March 1983 through opening its first
branch at B. B. Parkway Branch in the capital, Dhaka city. The City Bank is among the not very
many nearby banks which don't take after the customary, decentralized, topographically oversaw,
branch based business or benefit model. Rather the bank deals with its business and operation
vertically from the head office through 4 unmistakable business divisions to be specific

2.3- Benefits of having FINACLE as Information System


Cost-effective Business Engine: Finacle (IS) enables The City Bank to gain access to a
new customer by setting up a low-cost channel to. The solution presents banks with the
advantages of reduced integration by leveraging common interface messages,
maintenance and deployment costs. This translates into significant cost savings without
banks having to compromise on features or the range of devices supported.
Ease of Operation: Banks can deploy the solution to on-board customers offline, even
in the absence of Internet connectivity. Offline banking is enabled through ubiquitous and
easy to use devices such as laptops. The innovative spot-registration process supports
both smart-card and simple ID card-based banking, reducing customer on-boarding time
and lowering entry barriers. The solution can be easily deployed by the banks staff or
business correspondents.
Robust Security: Fingerprint-based biometric authentication ensures the fidelity of every
transaction performed using Finacle solution. In addition, it offers extensive application
security features like URL encryption, referral URL check and session management to
provide a robust security framework.

FINACLE is used to get processed information. FINACLE gives accurate and reliable output to
the city bank.

Employees of The City Bank gives input in the FINACLE through a server. The server can be
accessed only by the authorized employee of the bank.

Computer system can have different types of threats. Most common threats today are misuse of
information,
Cybercrime, data fraud, internal employee conflict, poor management, viruses, phishing attacks,
Trojan etc.

Cyber Crime: Cyber-crime encompasses any criminal act dealing with computers
and networks, traditional crimes conducted through the Internet is also called
hacking.

Misuse of information: Employees input wrong information into their database,


either by mistake or on purpose to get back at their employers or sometimes they
store data in the wrong file or they leak information to the other banks.

Phishing attacks: Phishing is an e-mail fraud method in which criminals attempt to


gather personal and financial information from recipients.

Trojan: Trojan is a virus that can affect any kind of banking file and also can disable
software.

Personal Identification Number (PIN).

City Bank's information system is not that solid but rather they are attempting their best to make
strides. FINACLE gave by Infosys Technologies Limited are satisfying their destinations,
offering city some assistance with banking to accomplish their long haul vital objectives
furthermore helping them to achieve their client's desire.
