TRIPLE-A AFFILIATE OF
THE MILWAUKEE BREWERS

1918 1903
1961

With westward migration of Major League teams taking a toll on the

Solons attendance, the team moves to Honolulu and adopts the
Hawaiian Islanders moniker.

1988

After 28 years in Hawaii, the Islanders return to the mainland, this time to
Colorado Springs. The club partners with the Cleveland Indians, its first
ever Major League affiliate, and takes on the Sky Sox name in honor of
the former White Sox affiliate that resided in Colorado Springs
from 1950 - 58.
The Sky Sox win their first Pacific Coast League championship in a 3-0
series sweep of the Vancouver Canadians.

2014 1995

The Sky Sox franchise - originally the Portland (OR) Beavers - is founded
as an original member of the Pacific Coast League.

1993 1992

sky sox history

The Beavers relocated to Sacramento, CA. Known as the Senators, and

later the Solons when Branch Rickey purchased the team in 1935, the
team would remain in Californias capitol for 43 seasons.

When Denver is awarded a Major League franchise, the newly-established

Colorado Rockies arrange for the Sky Sox to become their top minor
league affliliate.

Colorado Springs wins its second PLC title, defeating the Salt Lake Buzz,
3-to-2, on a walk-off base hit in the series deciding game.
After 22 seasons as a Rockies affiliate, the Sky Sox sign a two-year player
development contract with the Milwaukee Brewers, ushering in a new era
of Sky Sox baseball.

2015 year in review

The 2015 Sky Sox baseball season
was one of the most exciting and
memorable in the organizations
28-year history as the team began a
new era as the top affiliate of the
Milwaukee Brewers.
Sky Sox fans demonstrated their
excitement by showing up in force
as the team drew 300,209 fans over
65 openings. It marked the eighth
season in a row that the franchise
eclipsed the 300,000 mark.
The highest attended game of the
season came on July 4th with the
team drawing 8,896 fans, which was
the largest crowd since the stadium
renovation in 2004.

One of the main reasons behind the teams

attendance success was the exciting and extensive
promotional schedule. Fans who came out to Security
Service Field witnessed 17 fireworks shows, including
the biggest of the season during Sky Fest, and
traditional promotions including Bark in the Park and
Used Car Giveaway night.
This season also featured some of the best theme
nights yet including the 5th Annual Star Wars Night,
Avengers Night and Batman vs. Superman during the
September 5th Sky Fest celebration.
Fans who made it out to the ballpark this season were
also eligible to receive some of our fantastic giveaway
items that included a team magnet schedule, 9 flat
screen TVs, Kids Replica Jersey, 80s Sox the Fox
bobblehead, Youth Fielders Glove, Craig Counsell
bobblehead, and a Milwaukee Brewers inspired
baseball cap.

2015 Heroes Classic

The Sky Sox continue to play an integral part in the communitys response
to the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires of years past. Our fourth
annual Heroes Classic Charity Celebrity Softball Game and jersey auction
featured a special appearance by former Broncos wide receiver Ed
McCaffrey and raised more than $6,000 for local police and fire charities,
as well as the Wounded Warrior Project. Since its first installment in 2012,
the Heroes Classic has raised more than $66,000.
Wounded Warrior Batting Practice
Prior to a May home game, the Sky Sox hosted nine members of the
Wounded Warrior Project for an on-field batting practive event. Manager
Rick Sweet, pitching coach Fred Dabney, hitting coach Bob Skube and Sky
Sox players were all on hand to give participants hitting and fielding
advice, while providing them with a real-life professional
baseball experience.
Sox the Fox Appearances
One of Colorado Springs most beloved celebrities, Sox the Fox appeared
at more than 200 events throughout the Southern Colorado community in
2015. In June, Sox helped Brookdale Skyline Senior Living enter the
Guinness Book of World Records, as he and 810 others were
on hand to break the world record for most people participating in the
hand jive.
Educational Programs
Through the Sky Sox reading program and Math Day events, the Sky Sox
continue to promote youth education throughout the community. More
than 14,000 students took part in the 2015 reading program which awarded prizes from local businesses as well as two $250 college funds courtesy
of U.S. Bank. More than 8,000 students attended a Math Day game in
2015 and their schools were provided with more than $43,000 worth of
savings and donations.

During the 2015 calendar year, the

Sky Sox made several contributions to
the Southern Colorado community
including mascot appearances,
speaking engagements, and
educational programs for children.
Through appearances, donations, and
correspondences, the Sky Sox are
part of more than 300 community
