Welcome
In this cold January, a very warm welcome to our Winter Newsletter!
To keep you up-to-date with all the activities we are working on, the Alderbrook
PTA will be sending you a newsletter every term. We hope you enjoy our first
edition and please get in touch with any suggestions or comments.

Doing more together

We believe that, by joining forces, parents, teachers and others associated with
the school, can really have a positive impact on the educational journey of all
Alderbrook pupils. This aim is reflected in our motto, Doing more together.
We work closely with the school to identify areas where some extra funding can
go a long way, being buying IT equipment, stocking up our library, funding educational school trips, or contributing towards improvements to our school's facilities.
From cake sales to school fairs, the PTA runs a series of activities throughout the
year that not only raise funds, but are also fun for children and adults. In addition,
we are putting time and effort in identifying and applying for grants to fund educational activities and some of our more ambitious and expensive projects.

Putting money to good use

As a registered charity, we are obliged to follow the PTA-UK constitution. This
means that we must work to advance the education of all pupils in the school by
developing effective relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the school; and by engaging in activities or providing facilities which
support the school and advance the education of our children.
So far this year, the PTA has committed to continue funding our Breakfast Box,
and to pay for theatre performances that all can enjoy. And, with the money we
already have in the bank, we are also supporting two new fantastic projects:

New tablets

A studio in the sky

Tablets are a great learning tool

in the classroom, and can be
particularly useful for the teaching
of Maths. To make sure Alderbrook
pupils have access to the latest
technology, we are buying some
sparkling new tablets for our children
to use during lessons.

Alderbrook's roofterrace is having

a make-over! We have agreed to
provide funding for this project, that
will create a new and exciting learning
space. The project will require further
funding and we are currently looking
into grants and other fundraising
options.

A busy, fun-filled term

The first term of the school year was very busy for the PTA! These are just some
of the activities and events that took place. Thanks to everyone involved!

Spooktacular Disco

Festive Cards

Before the half-term, we put on a Spooktacular Disco!

Special thanks to DJ Guy who took charge of the mix
on the dance floor.
We organised the
disco in just 10 days
and managed to raise
525.55!

Our children showed their amazing talent designing

Festive Cards. We ordered 135 packs of cards, as
well as gift tags,
mugs and tea
towels. Thank you
to the children who
took part, and to
the parents who
placed orders,
raising 457.05!

A massive thanks to
those of you who made
it possible!

It was the most wonderful time of the year....

Christmas Fair

If you came to our Christmas Fair, you would know what

a fantastic event that was! This year we wanted to make
sure our children had plenty of fun activities to choose
from and we believe we succeeded! Thank you Debi and
the Christmas Fair Committee for all the hard work, to all
of you who helped with your time and donations, and to
the local business that supported us. We made a profit of
2,233.22!!! Absolutely wonderful!

Your PTA
Elected at the beginning of the school year, the PTA Committee
is responsible for organising all our activities, making sure our
objectives are in line with those of the school.
As a parent or teacher you are a member of the PTA and your
involvement is crucial. From volunteering at events, attending
PTA meetings, or sharing your ideas about how we can do
more, we rely on your support!
Beyond fundraising, the PTA aims to bring parents and teachers
together, and promote the school within our community.
Have a great term and get in touch if you want to know more
about your PTA!
