Samaritan Inn Fundraising & Appreciation Banquet

Do you know what it feels like to have your baby in
your local hospital and the doctors tell you it needs
to be transported to a larger city immediately for
monitoring because it was born premature? This was
the experience of the McDaniel and Forbes families
as they shared with over 100 guests at the Samaritan
Inn Fundraiser and Appreciation Banquet on
Tuesday, April 5 at Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
Both testimonies were about how frightened and
Lisa Rose
overwhelmed they were as new parents having to
experience the Neonatal Intensive Care Units not knowing what
the future held for their precious newborns. They also shared
how Samaritan Inn Ministry volunteers, who were honored that
night, stepped in and provided housing, prayers, snacks, and
support for these families while in Montgomery. Volunteers
prayed with them, brought meals, and visited them. The ministry
housed them during the families stay. As we heard them share
their experiences and how God was working through that scary
time, I could only think of Matthew 25:34-40.
Church & Community Ministries

Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you who are
blessed by my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from
the creation of the world. For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was
thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited
me into your home. I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was
sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited
me. Then these righteous ones will reply, Lord, when did we ever
see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to
drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give
you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit
you? And the King will say, I tell you the truth, when you did
it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you
were doing it to me!
Ben Kelley, Executive Director
of Baptist Health Foundation,
talked
about
his
own
experience with the NICU as a
grandparent that evening and I
was reminded how very
important it is to visit the sick,
feed the hungry, and house
those in need of shelter;
especially during a crisis.
Certainly, this night was filled
with joy of how our volunteers
share Gods love and live it in tangible ways.
Montgomery Baptist Association wants to also thank the staff of
Eastern Hills Baptist Church, Janet Wheat and volunteers from
Heritage for cooking a wonderful meal, Billy Irvin from Faith Radio
who was our Emcee for the night, Leisa Harrison for beautiful
music, Grant Jones, Robin Crowe, Jaquie Lunsford, Sherry White,
behind the scenes workers, and all contributors to our silent

auction. With all these people, it was a wonderful night!
