IMPORTANT :
----------- When you use the fullscreen, the window-menu is replaced by a popup menu,
press the right mouse button to make it appears.
- Gens has 2 renders mode, one in full-screen and an other in windowed mode.
This allow you to avoid to change the current rendering mode each time you're
switching from or to fullscreen.
For instance, if you prefer "2xSAI render" in fullscreen and "double render" i
n windowed, just choose once
"double render" in windowed then go to fullscreen, change to 2xSai...
Now if you go back to windowed mode, the "double render" is chosen and when yo
u go back to fullscreen mode,
"2xSAI render" is activated.
- 50% Scanline, 25% Scanline and 2xSAI render mode are available only with MMX C
PU.
- "strech" feature isn't available for all scanlines renders & 2xSAI render when
you are in fullscreen.
- The DAC improvement feature can cause some sound bugs with a few games so don'
t use it when isn't necessary,
actually this feature is interesting with games like Street Fighter 2' but doe
sn't have any effects with
others games like Street Of Rage 2.
CGOFFLINE :
----------If you want support for the CGOffline (Genesis Collective Database) :
- Download the CGOffline.chm and Genesis.chm files from the Genesis collective s
ite
http://www.genesiscollective.com
- Place the 2 previous files in the same directory.
- Configure the path for the CGOffline file in Gens.
- That's all ! Now you can have informations about a genesis game during play by
pressing the F1 key.
If no thing appear, it's just because the CGOffline haven't any games correspo
nding to your, maybe because
you're using an alternate version, go to the Genesis Collective site to have m
ore informations about the
CGOffline support.
SEGA CD :
--------* How start a GAME :
(1) First, you have to correctly configure the SEGA CD bios (in options -> Direc
tories/Files menu), you can
download the bios on this site : http://www.eidolons-inn.de
(2) Configure the BRAM directory (in the options -> Directories... menu)
- From CD :
(3) Choose the CD Drive (options -> Current CD Drive menu) you want to use.
(4) Put the SEGA CD in the CD drive.
(5) Click on Boot CD in the Files menu, wait sometimes (severals second are need
ed to initialise the CD).
(6) Normally the bios screen should appears, if isn't the case report to the FAQ
section.
- From ISO (BIN, RAW supported too) image :
(3) If you have MP3 files, rename them as "<iso_file_name> XX.mp3" where XX is t
he number of the track.
ISO = sonic_cd.iso
-> MP3 = sonic_cd 02.mp3, sonic_cd 03.mp3, sonic_cd 04.mp3...
but Gens permit you to rename them in differents ways :

Make ATTENTION to the ISO filename, it won't work if you have "sonic_cd_01.i
so" instead of "sonic_cd.iso" !
(4) Go to menu 'File' then click on 'Open' like you do with a genesis rom ...
(5) Load your iso file.
(6) Wait few times and normally the bios screen appears.
NETPLAY :
--------First, be sure you have the kailleraclient.dll file in your Gens directory (anyw
ay, the emu doesn't start if
isn't the case).
Well, go to 'file->Netplay' menu, then the kaillera server selection dialog appe
ar ...
Don't forget to specify a user name.
if you want to play on the NET, be sure that you're connected ^-^, if you want t
o play on local network, just
specify the IP of the machine where kaillera server running (you can download th
e server at http://www.kaillera.com).
Choose the server where you want to play, then an other dialog appears and you c
an see others players connected
to this server and theirs status (idle, playing ...), also you can see the curre
nt created games rooms, if you wish to
play one of them (and the status is waiting) just 'join' the game ...
YOU MUST HAVE THE EXACT SAME NAME OF THE ROM (so you should use goodgen to renam
e your roms).
You can create your own game room by clicking on the 'Create new game' button, t
hen a list of game should appear
(it's the list of all the roms you have in your last rom loaded directory).
Then you can wait for others players and start the game alone ;)
When you want to stop the game, YOU HAVE TO CLOSE THE ROM (Menu 'File->close rom
' or Ctrl+C) then you can start
an other netplay party.
If you want to exit Gens, you have to close all the kaillera dialog (the little
before to avoid crashe ... a bug
of kaillera), then you can close Gens.
Sorry for all these convenients, but Kaillera has be made for MAME first and Gen
s works in a complety different way...
If you want more informations about how use Kaillera, check the homepage at http
://www.kaillera.com
For others emulator authors who want to be compatible with Gens for NETPLAY, her
Q : I always got the BIOS CD player interface with "NO DISC" message after a "Bo
ot CD", what's the problem ?
A : Be sure to use the good CD Drive, if it's the case, try to use another one o
r upgrade your ASPI drivers.
Q : The bios keeps saying "CHECKING DISC" !
A : This means that CD isn't recognized, because isn't a sega CD (or it's damage
d), or just because your
CDROM Drive isn't recognized by Gens, try to upgrade your ASPI drivers.
Q : I don't have sound in my sega CD game, i'm playing it from an image with the
MP3 files, how fix it ?
A : Rename correctly your MP3 files...
Q : I don't have sound in my sega CD game but i'm playing from a CD, huh ?
A : With Gens 1.40, it's normally impossible, or it's an emulation related probl
em !
Q : Funny day isn't it ?

(09/11/2001) Changes Gens 1.30 <- Gens 1.20 :
--------------------------------------------[Sega CD]
* Added the possibility to choose a perfect synchronisation emulation mode.
This means that main CPU and sub CPU execute instruction by instruction then
emulation is more accurate but a lot slower.
This option is desactivated by default, you can enable it when you're playing
Sega CD games but it's highly recommend to use it only if the game doesn't wor
