Each young person that attends TAS Full or Part-Time will design their
own timetable, decide which qualifications they would like to work
towards, what new activities they would like to try and will set their
own goals for the forthcoming year. The timetable will vary greatly for
each young person and will include a high percentage of one-to-one
work, team projects and activities and small more formal taught
workshops all aimed at building individual confidence, self esteem,
team working and important social skills.
All young people completing the Duke of Edinburgh’s award will receive a certificate for each section completed, a framed final certificate, photographic evidence for their
portfolio, Duke of Edinburgh badge, portfolio of work and will be invited to a D of E presentation evening.

Our Approach:
We believe our success is a combined approach of listening, no labels, individual and flexible learning, starting with a clean sheet as well as a more holistic approach helping
young people manage their often chaotic lifestyles in a more positive way.
Our Principles
The TAS strategy is built on five principles:
1) Support
We will stick with helping young people even when they are at their most challenging. We will hang in there and support and guide them into making positive life choices.
Sometimes it is a long process and young people need to know that we will always be available to support them.
2) Educate
We will provide a unique, individualised, FUN and enjoyable, yet challenging and rewarding education experience of the highest attainable standard.
3) Encourage Independence
We will concentrate on encouraging young people to take responsibility for their own learning and personal development by helping them to build their own unique portfolio
of achievements, experiences, enabling them to see their own true worth. We will support all TAS young people through the difficult transition stage from school onto life post
16, whether into full-time education, training or employment and will continue this support throughout their journey for as long as it is required.
5) Partnership Working
We can not do all of this on our own, but need to work with and through others in order to multiply our impact.
The statements below define the activities we will undertake in pursuit of our vision-
We will:
Create and deliver an alternative curriculum for young people which is innovative, holistic, encourages positive progression and promotes independence.
Provide advice and support to young people, sign posting to other agencies whilst hand-holding through this process.
Work only with organisations which work with young people to ensure they are listened to and their individual needs met.
