MESSAGE FROM
THE SU PRESIDENT

On behalf of the Student Union team January 2016 semester it gives me immense pleasure to pen this message to the SU semester report. The sole aim to compile this report is not only to show the performance but
also to implement a cohesive and transparent SU reporting system.

It was a great opportunity for me to represent the whole student community of this great institute. I would like
to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire student community of AIT, who have been behind our interest to
work. We always considered student interest and student concerns as our prime motive and we always
worked with a motive of fulfilling your needs and interests. We as a team tried our best to organize various
events which made the students to indulge in all activities and we hope all the events left a trail in the heart of
every student.
I would like to express my special gratitude to AIT administration and OFAM for their kind support and
guidance given to us. Further, I would like to thank the faculties and staff for their valuble services to SU and
the student community at large.
A special word of gratitude to all the volunteers of different committees who worked really hard to bring out
lively and memorable events. From the bottom of heart, I would like to thank my SU team members who toiled
to bring their best in every possible way. Without them it would have been impossible to achieve things. Last
but not the least, I would like to thank the SU media team for their great effort in compiling this report. I hope
this work is continued by the forthcoming student union teams.

STUDENT PICKUP SERVICE

ORIENTATION DAY

Student Union Accommodation and Reservation


Committee arranged a pick-up service for the new
students coming from various parts of the world to
pursue their post graduate studies at Asian Institute
of Technology (AIT). Pick-up services were arranged
for over 90 new students from 1st to 3rd of January
2016 from Suvarnabhumi International Airport,
Bangkok. Volunteers of SU Accommodation and
Reservations committee were present at the airport
to greet the new students and pick them up. After
the pick up, the new students were allotted with
temporary rooms inside the campus.

AIT administration arranged the orientation day for


new students on 5th January 2016 in AITCC. The
Deans of different schools at AIT, VPAA and SU
president welcomed and briefed the student about
the academic and non-academic life at AIT.

ACCOMODATION LOTTERY & CAMPUS WALK

SU Accommodation and Reservation committee


together with AIT Accommodation Office organized
the accommodation lottery for newly joined AITians
on 4th of January 2016. Students had to pick a lottery
number from a box and they were then allocated on
the basis of their lottery number.
After the room allocation, SU Campus and
Environment committee had organized a campus walk
for all new students. The campus tour was organized
to acquaint the students with the prime locations and
landmarks of the campus. Students walked around the
campus exploring different cafeterias, classrooms,
grounds and play-courts and other key areas.

WELCOME GAMES

Photos

The SU Sports Committee organized welcome games for newly


joined AITians on 12th January 2016 at the AIT main grounds.
Main aim of this event was to develop the harmony between
new students and to introduce them to sports activities inside
the campus. The event consisted of exiting games such as Touch
Rugby, Futsal and Dodgeball. Over 80 new and old students
participated in this event. The highlight of the Welcome Games
was Dodgeball that drew the attention of many students and
was enjoyed by everyone.

Welcome dinner party for new students was held on 15 th January 2016. A
total of 95 new students participated in the event. The party started at 6:30
pm with the welcome speech followed by SU members introduction,
international group dance, games, Bollywood style dance, group song by
Thailand Student Association band and the crowning of Mr & Miss fresher.
The formal event was followed by a party at SU Cafe organized by SU Assets
and Recreation.

Maintaining good relationship with companies is
essential for placement. Career center in collaboration with SU External affairs organizes career talk
throughout the semester for the students. In each
career talk session companies announced available
opportunities for graduating students as well as
provided guideline on career build up.

SU PERFORMANCE DURING WINTER CAMP CLOSING CEREMONY

Student Union exhibited the diversity of our


student community during the cultural night of
the winter camp conducted for students from JIS
group of Institutions and Assam down town
university, India on the 13th of January 2016, at
AIT conference center.

THAI LANGUAGE SURVIVAL CLASS

SU Academic Affairs committee organized a basic


Thai Language course conducted by Mr. Kamon
Ruengdet. It was a four-session course held from 19th
to 28th January 2016. Around 100 students registered
for the said course while up to 70 attended the
class. Participants interest was developed through
different games, while a quiz was also conducted at
the end for evaluation. Students who attended are
believed to manage the routine works in a better
way while engaging with local Thai people.

WELCOME MOVIE

SU Film and Entertainment Committee organized the


Welcome Movie- Cop Out on 25th January, 2016
(Monday) for all the new students of January 2016
at Milton Bender Auditorium. This event was an
opportunity to all the new students to meet with
new friends and give a sense of warm welcome by
SU as they will be new to AIT. The event started
from 7:00 PM and completed at 9:00 PM. More than
80 people participated in the event including the
volunteers.
The SU Film and Entertainment team entertained
the audience with a question and answer session
before and after the movie, where exciting gifts
were given to students who answered the questions correctly. After the movie had six raffle draws were held
to select the winners of with the four gifts and two Grand Prizes of 3D Movie Tickets.

VISIT TO MAHIDOL UNIVERSITY JOB FAIR

A visit to Mahidol University International College


job fair was organized by SU External Affairs
Committee on 28th January 2016. Over 30
participants who were preregistered took part in this
event.
Through this visit AITians had the
opportunity to discuss their career prospects with
the leading companies in Thailand. Several spot
interviews also held at this career fair.

REVEAL YOUR TRUE POTENTIAL

SU Academic Affairs committee organized a motivation seminar named Reveal


Your True Potential delivered by Ms. Amelie Yan Gouffes on 29th January 2016.
Ms. Amelie Yan Gouffes is certified and accredited Associate Certified Coach
by the International Coach Federation and accredited member of the Asia
Speakers Association. This seminar was different from our technology based
traditional talks covering motivation and stress management issues. Around 80
students were present at this event.

MINI MARATHON & SLOW BICYCLE RACE

The Sports Committee of the Student Union


organized slow bicycle race and mini marathon
on the 5th February 2016. Both the events had
2 categories Female + Children and Male. The
event saw the participation of a huge number
of people from the AIT community. Following
this, the winners for the two events were
presented with medals, certificates and
trophies.
T-shirts and certificates were given to first 20
female and first 40 males finishers of the mini
marathon.

WELCOME TRIP

The Welcome Trip organized by the SU Leisure


team was held on 6th February 2016. Welcome trip
was organized as a one day trip to Dream World
theme park. Over 100 new students joined this
trip. Breakfast for the participants were served on
the way to the Dream World. Breakfast included
sandwich and the brownies, from the UFM Bakery
Shop. At the theme park students had the
opportunity to experience many rides and shows
such as Sky Coaster, Raptor, Vikings, Hurricane,
Tornado and so on.
A buffet lunch was served for all the participants
from the Dream World Theme park. After
experiencing all the fun and the excitement
welcome trippers returned to AIT around 7.00
PM.

DJ BATTLE

SU Assets and Recreation Committee organized a DJ


Competition named DJ Battle on 29th January 2016
at SU Caf. The main purpose of this event was to
create a platform for talented DJ artists in AIT to
showcase their abilities and to create a fun and
enjoyable environment for all music lovers. Seven
contestants participated for the DJ competition
where each contestant got 10 minutes to showcase
their talents. The top three DJs were presented with
cash prizes and the opportunity to perform in up
coming SU Caf parties .

STUDENT UNION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS

Continuing the democratic process at AIT, the Student Union election for the executive committee of August
2016 was held on 25th February 2016 at Korea House. Two candidates, Mr. Raunak Thapa from Nepal and Miss
Sobia Asghar from Pakistan competed for the position of vice president in the election. A huge voter turnout
was observed on the election day and a and a total of 854 votes were casted. Mr. Raunak Thapa won the
elections with 505 votes. Miss Sobia Asghar received 337 votes. The Chief Election Commissioner and all the
volunteers worked hard and ensured that the election ran freely, fairly and without any problems. Mr. Raunak
Thapa will be serving as the Vice President of the Student Union this semester and as the President of the
Student Union during the August 2016 semester.

VALENTINES MASQUERADE

Valentines Masquerade organized by SU Film


and Entertainment Committee was held on
13th February, 2016 from 8:00 PM onwards in
SU cafe. More than 300 AITians came to
experience the Masquerade party. The event
party started 8:45 PM DJ playing the songs
which were dedicated by the guest to their
loved one.
After the song dedications the program
formally started with the most awaited
competition of the day The Most Romantic
Couple 2016 with the participation of 15
couples.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE TRAINING


SU campus and Environment organized the The Emergency
Response Training on 13th February 2016. The Purpose of the
event was to train the dorm representative for emergency
responses such as Firefighting and also make the students aware of
the hazard risks and how to overcome these risks. The first session
was commenced by lecture on Hazard Risks by Dr.Indrajit Pal
(Assistant Professor, Disaster Preparedness,
Mitigation and
Management (DPMM) and in the second session, hands on training
experience on fire extinguishers was carried out. This program was
useful to everyone and they were able to gain knowledge about
how to prepare themselves in case of emergency.

FIRST AID TRAINING

SU campus and Environment organized the The Emergency


Medical Response Training on 20th February 2016. The purpose
of the training was to train the students with the basic first aid in
case of emergency such leg injury, insect bites, snake bites, heart
attacks etc. The demonstration of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) was the highlight of this session. It is a lifesaving technique
useful in many emergencies, including heart attack or near
drowning, in which someone's breathing or heartbeat has
stopped was clearly demonstrated and volunteers took part
actively and it was of great benefit.

MATLAB WORKSHOP

SU Academics organized a workshop on MATLAB


(Matrix Laboratory) on 4th and 5th of March at Milton
Bender Auditorium. The objective of this workshop was
to give students an exposure about MATLAB
programming and introduction of commands from
various toolboxes. Over 60 students took part in the
workshop in both days. Hopefully the participants will
be able to start with the project and can grow further.

SPSS WORKSHOP

SU Academic Affairs organized a workshop on Statistical


Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) on 8th and 9th of March at
Milton Bender Auditorium. Objective of this workshop was to
help students to learn how to apply statistical tools in
research. This Workshop was designed for beginner level
participants to provide them an opportunity to learn SPSS.
However, seeing the active participants and based on feed
back, we are planning to arrange advance level training
session for this package.

COLOURS OF LIFE | CULTURAL SHOW

The evening of 20th February, 2016 saw the AIT


community immerse in the Colours of Life - The
Cultural Show. The event put up by the 40 dedicated
members of team Culture and Gender, was
inaugurated by Chief Guest Professor Dr. Sivanappan
Kumar and judged by 5 distinguished members of AIT
Administration and Faculty. This time, there were
around 11 countries participating in 8 different
categories. In total, there were 42 events with around
200 participants from different countries, showcasing
variety of cultural talents found on campus. Myanmar
emerged as the overall Champion with the highest
points.

SCAVENGER HUNT

Scavenger Hunt organized by Film and Entertainment Committee, took place on the 13th of March 1.30 PM onwards. 19
teams, each comprising of 4 members took part in the event.
This semesters scavenger hunt consisted of seven tasks which
tested the creativity, team work, physical capacity and general
knowledge of the participants. Out of the tasks adventure,
treasure hunt and selfie challenge were considered as the most
challenging tasks. During this scavenger hunt, participants had
unique opportunity of playing golf to complete a task. The prize
distribution ceremony was held at the SU Caf. Winning teams
were awarded with cash prizes while consolation prizes were
given to all the teams participated.

CAMPUS CLEANING WALK

SU Campus and Environment of January 2016 semester organized a


Campus Cleaning Walk on 19th March 2016. The main motive of the
program was to raise awareness about the cleanliness around the
place where everyone reside and also promote a better environment,
better tomorrow. The team mainly focused on the removal of plastics,
polythene, metal cans and any other types of objects that is
considered harmful to the environment. The walk was commenced
from Lawson 108, which was first led by tree plantation. Twenty trees
were planted in the campus and then the cleaning walk was started, it
included all the dorms areas such as standard dorms, category 3, 4, 5,
student villages 1, 2 and 3, Staff housings, cafeteria area and then the
walk ended in Lawson. The walk was for about two and half hours, and
ended up with a group photo. More than 80 participants took part
actively in this event.

SU CAF PARTY

SU Assets and Recreation organized a Friday night


party on 8th March at SU Caf. This party was
organized just after the exams were concluded to
help the AITians release the exam stress. The party
started around 8.00 AM and continued past 12.00
AM.

ACOUSTIC NIGHT

SU Assets and Recreation committee organized


"ACOUSTIC NIGHT" musical evening on 26th March 2016
at SU Caf . The main purpose of the event was to
create a friendly platform among the musicians in AIT
and to allow them to showcase there talent in a party
atmosphere. The event commenced around 8.30 PM
and five bands performed songs in different genre in
this event. Over 200 AITians came to witness the
musical talent in AIT and enjoy the acoustic melodies.
The band performances were followed by the DJ night.

CAREER FAIR

Career Fair organized by Career Center in collaboration


with the SU External Affairs committee was held on 30th
March 2016 at AIT Conference Center. This semesters
career fair saw participation from over 30 different
companies offering internships and jobs for students
and new graduates. The fair was attended by a
considerable number of AIT students who had a chance
to speak to the companies in person and submit their
resumes to them directly. A series of career talks were
also organized in parallel to the career fair.

RESEACH EXHIBITION

SU Academic Affairs committee organized a research


exhibition on 30th March 2016 at AIT Conference Center.
This was held in parallel to the career fair. Several
students from SET, SERD and SOM presented their
research and projects at this exhibition. Out of the
research work presented, best research in each
category and the overall winner was selected by a panel
of judges.

MINI OLYMPICS

Mini Olympics of January 2016 semester organized and facilitated by


SU Sports Committee was held from 10th March to 1st April 2016. A
total of 21 sporting events in different categories for both men and
women were held during this time. This time Dodgeball and Cane ball
were introduced to the Mini Olympics for the first time. For the first
time in Mini Olympics history, SU Media Committee together with SU
Sports committee live streamed finals and semi finals of several sports
on Student Union TV.
Sri Lanka emerged as the overall winners of Mini Olympics bagging the
most gold medals at this semesters Mini Olympics. The winners are
due to receive their medals and trophies on 7th April 2016 during the
Awards Night. A total of 21 coordinators and around 100 volunteers
helped relentlessly to make Mini Olympics for January 2016 semester
an overall success.

GAMING TOURNAMENT

Gaming tournament organized by SU Film and Entertainment


committee was held on 6th April 2016 at SU Caf. There were
three games in which each of the team competed, Need for
Speed (a car racing game), Call of Duty (fighting game) and FIFA
(sports game). Among these need for speed and FIFA had
individual matches while the call of duty had team matches.
Twelve teams each consisting of four players
participated in
the tournament. The teams which scored highest points in the
group stage and the knockout stage were emerged as winners.
After 12 hour long gaming marathon Team speed hunters
emerged as champions while Team the thada boys and Team
galkatas emerged as 1st and 2nd runners up respectively.

ESSAY COMPETITION
World Water Day is an international observance and an opportunity to learn more about water related issues,
be inspired to tell others and take action to make a difference. In accordance with that we have organized an
essay competition with a title "Save Water, Save Life." It was a way to bring out the talents and creativity of the
students. There were nearly 15 participants out of which three best essays were selected and they were
awarded with cash prize. In addition to it the first essay will be published in the SU magazine. The winners were
as follows

PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The photography competition organized by SU Media Affairs committee was held from 22nd March to 3rd April. The theme for this semesters competition was Colourful AIT. More than 30 participants
submitted 53 photographs for the competition. The prizes were given
under two categories based on the judges vote and the popularity.
Winners of the photography competition are as follows.

Grand Prize - Follow me AIT(Kasvinda Kulathunga)

Runners up - Festive Colours(Zar Aye Cho)

Popularity Prize - Beauty and the Beast (Sameera Liyanage).

FOOD FAIR

This semesters food fair held on 7th April with its full fervor and zeal. 12 countries participated in the event and
presented their delicious food. The food fair was a competitive event and there were two categories whereby
the participants competed. The categories were Best food and Best Stall decoration. For best food category,
Myanmar food won the hearts of judges and were declared as winner in the said category, followed by Pakistan
and Bangladesh as first runner-up and second runner up respectively. In Best Stall Decoration, Philippines won
the first price while Myanmar and Pakistan won second and third places respectively. An easting contest was
also organized in parallel to the food fair.

AWARDS NIGHT

Awards Night of January 2016 was organized by SU Film and


Entertainment committee in collaboration with SU Sports
committee on 7th April at AIT Conference Center. In parallel to
awards night a movie screening was also organized by SU Film and
Entertainment committee. The awards were of the Winners of
Mini Olympics, Photography competition, Food Fair and Gaming
tournament. There were more than 500 medals, trophies and
certificates presented to Mini Olympic winners for various
categories. Winners of Food Fair, Photography Competition and
Gaming Tournament were awarded with a certificate and cash
prize.

ACADEMIC OLYMPIAD

SU Academic Affairs committee organized Academic Olympiad on


21st April 2016 at AIT Conference Center. Twelve teams, each
consisting of three members participated in this event. Teams
were given tasks which tested their mathematical, analytical skills,
general knowledge to the highest potential. After several close
fought rounds team 50 cells of grey consisting of members
Sabeethan Kanagasingham, Shawn Sebastian Pulle, and
Mrutyunjaya Nanda emerged as champions. Teams Mindfuzz
and LOL won second and third places respectively.

HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR RESEACH

SU Academics organized a workshop on How to


publish your research work on 25th of April at Milton
Bender Auditorium. The objective of this workshop was
to give students an insight to the process involved in
publishing a research paper. Over 30 students took part
in the workshop. Hopefully the participants will be able
to publish their research work from the knowledge
gained from the workshop.

SPSS WORKSHOP 2

SU Academic Affairs organized 2nd workshop on Statistical


Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) based on the feedback
gathered from the first SPSS workshop. This event was held
on 20th of April at Milton Bender Auditorium. Objective of this
workshop was to help students to learn how to apply
statistical tools in research. This Workshop was designed for
beginner level participants to provide them an opportunity to
learn SPSS.

GRAND TRIP

Photos

SU Leisure team arranged the grand trip for January 2016


semester to Koh Samui island located in Surat-tani Province.
The trip was a two-day activity scheduled on 9th to 10th April.
160 participants including students, staff and volunteers took
part in this trip. Grand Trippers left the campus around 7:00 PM
on 8th evening and arrived at Surat-tani province next day
morning. After taking ferry to Koh Samui, participants went for
snorkeling and Kayaking in beautiful seas around the island.
Breakfast and Lunch were provided for participants in the ferry.
Grand Trippers enjoyed a all seafood dinner before going back
to hotel in the first day. On the second day of the trip the
participants had the opportunity to visit some local attractions
in the island before returning back to AIT in the evening.

GRADUATION BALL

Photos

Graduation Ball of January 2016 was organized by SU Culture and Gender Committee together with AIT Alumni
Association on 14th May 2016 at AIT Conference Center. The night was themed as 007 based on the popular
James Bond movie series. This party was arranged for all the graduates of January 2016 semester to
commemorate the hard work everyone had put in. More than 400 guests including students and their families
joined the event to made it a memorable one.
The event was inaugurated by Prof. Sivanappan
Kumar (VPAA), Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto (VPRD),
Assoc. Prof. Somchet Thinaphong (AITAA
President) and distinguished guests of AIT
Alumni Association. After the candle lightning
ceremony which marked the induction of new
Alumni members, prizes were awarded to best
students of the three schools.
SU Magazine which was compiled by SU
Academic Affairs committee was launched
during the Graduation Night. This was followed
up by the crowning of James Bond and Bond
girl. Ankit Rana emerged as the James Bond
while Sumonna Chaithep was crowned as the
Bond girl. After the formal event all the
graduates enjoyed the buffet dinner at AITCC.
Marking an end to a memorable night the
audience was allured by the guest performance
of the Thammasat University Band followed by
DJ Night.

SU Media Affairs committee upgraded and


re-launched the Student Union website on 22nd April
2016. The new website consist information on each
committee and its activities. Also the newsfeed will
provide information on upcoming activities
organized by the Student Union.

VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION PARTY


SU Team arranged an appreciation party for the hardworking
volunteers of January 2016 Semester. The party was arranged
in SU Caf on 6th May 2016. There were 234 students who had
worked voluntarily for student union in January 2016
semester. Out of 234, more than 150 students attended the
party. After the dinner, certificates were distributed to all the
hardworking volunteers.

LIVE MATCH TELECASTING


SU Assets and Recreation team arranged live telecasting of
cricket and football matches in China Center. Matches of ICC
World T20 and European Premier League were telecasted
under this initiative. Several other sporting events were
telecasted upon the request of the students.

IMPROVEMENT OF GYM FACILITIES

SU Gym team for January 2016 have succeeded


in increasing the revenue of SU gym and
thereby being able to bring new equipment to
gym and repair the existing machines. Two new
multifunctional fitness machines were added to
the gym during January 2016 semester. More
new equipment are expected to be installed
very soon.

INITIATIVES
BICYCLE RENTAL SERVICE
SU Campus and Environment committee with the
cooperation of the AIT Alumni Association
implemented a bicycle rental service for the
convenience of the students, staff, alumni, residents
and also outsiders. This service commenced on 5th of
January 2016. The rental charges are for student and
staff- 10 THB/day, for residents and alumni- 15 THB/
day, for outsiders- 20 THB/day and the refundable
deposit- 1000 THB. This system was a great benefit to
most of the people in the AIT community.

STUDENT UNION YOUTUBE CHANNEL

Student Union Media committee launched


YouTube channel branded AIT Student Union
with the live telecast of the Cultural Show. This
channel contains video footage of different
activities of the student union and was also used
to live stream Cultural show and Mini Olympics.

SU MAGAZINE

SU Academic Affairs committee launched the SU Magazine on 14th May 2016.


Aim of this magazine is to reflect the identity of the AIT through the writings of
its national and international students and teachers. It helps to provide
potential students the right platform to express themselves in beautiful and
creative manner and represent their country. First edition of SU magazine
consists of interviews, poems, short stories, student activities etc. Printed
copies of the magazine will be distributed among the AIT community in near
future. SU would like to state special thanks to AIT solutions, School of Engineering and Technology and School of Management for their valuable contribution to this cause.

LIGHT FOR LIFE


SU Campus and Environment committee initiated Light for Life program to create a safety awareness among
students to their bicycle at night. According to the AIT clinic, bicycle accident is the second most accident case
happening inside AIT campus. So, it has been highlighted that students inside the campus are using bicycle at
night without any lights so that pedestrians and other bicycle would not be able to see them in dark and
accident occurs. A questionnaire was circulated through google forms and the person with best answers and
who really understood the purpose was selected and they were awarded with light which can be installed in
both front and back of the bicycles.

LIVE STREAMING OF MINI OLYMPICS


For the first time in history of Mini Olympics Student Union
Media Committee live streamed finals and Semifinals
selected sports (Volleyball, Squash, Badminton, Table Tennis
and Tennis) on AIT Student Union YouTube channel. during
the mini Olympics season. On average more than 150
viewers watched the finals and semifinals of above
mentioned sports.

EVENT EVALUATION
SU Jan 2016 took the initiative to receive feedback from students and participants to record and evaluate
student union activities and events. Some of the activities organized by several committees were subjected to
evaluation from students through online survey. The results are compiled and passed on the next committee, in
order to minimize errors and improve the quality of SU service in the future. It is expected that future student
unions will evaluate all the activities and enrich the values of services provided by SU.

STUDENT UNION PROPOSALS


SU Jan 2016 took the initiative to document some of the needs of student community which require greater
financial support externally in order to seek financial support and create references to the future student union
committees to continue the work. SU presented proposals for Korea house renovation, SU Caf renovation, SU
Gym renovation and Sport facilities development. As result of these proposals, SU Gym will receive new
equipment near soon. It is expected to see the commencement of renovation work of some sport facilities and
Korea house. A platform has been created for future student unions to follow up and continue this unfinished
work. SU is thankful to AIT administration and OFAM for the support given in this regard.

IMPROVEMENT OF SITTING AREA IN FRONT


OF LAWSON 108
The continuous appeal of Student Union to improve the
sitting area in front of Lawson 108 resulted in installation of
three sets new wooden tables and chairs. SU is thankful to
OFAM for the kind support and cooperation given in this
regard.

MEETINGS
1ST GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR JANUARY 2016 SEMESTER

The 1st General Assembly (GA) Meeting for the


January 2016 semester was held on 20th January
2016 at Korea House from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM.
There are 29 GA members from country associations
and field of studies, who registered in January 2016
Semester. Twenty two out of twenty nine GA
members showed their presence in the meeting. The
1st GA meeting was conducted as per the following
agenda, The SU President, Mr. Jayasingam Adhuran,
delivered the welcome speech to GA Members and
updated the GA Members regarding initiatives taken
by SU team, future plans of SU Team and updates
from Student Union Office. The approval of
proposed committee members and budgets of committees were approved by GA followed by a buffet. On the
second half of the meeting, the representative students raised their issues and discussed with SU President.
The meeting was then adjourned with a group photo of all SU team members along with the GA members.

The newly approved Student Union team was invited to the management meeting held on 21 st January in the
Administration building. In this meeting the SU team was introduced to the AIT president by the SU president.
Several important student issues were discussed in this meeting.

STUDENT RELATIONS COMMITTEE MEETING

Student Relations Committee (SRC) meeting for the January 2016


semester was held in Administration building on 9th February
2016 under the patronage of Ambassador of Pakistan H.E. Dr.
Sohail Khan. Representing students of the campus, student union
team was present at this meeting. Several academic and non
academic issues and possible solutions for these issues were
discussed in this meeting.

2ND GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR JANUARY 2016 SEMESTER

2016 at Korea House from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM. As
the first item of the day, Election commissioner of
January 2016 semester presented the report on
Student Union Executive council elections. After
that members of Student Union Executive Council
for August 2016 semester took their oaths in front
of the GA members.
As the next item of the agenda, food committee
report was presented by the food committee
chairperson. In the second half of the meeting, the
representative students raised their issues and
discussed with SU President. The meeting was then
adjourned with a group photo of all SU team
members along with the GA members.

MEETING WITH NIDA


It is that semester where we get to represent AIT with
our very old good friends at NIDA on AIT-NIDA sports
day. NIDA will be hosting AIT on the 20th of August for
this 1 day event. Last year, AIT hosted NIDA and was
able to win the overall competition and retained the
running trophy. The event will comprise of 7 sports
events: Badminton (Singles & Doubles), Table Tennis
(Singles & Doubles), Football (8 a side), Volleyball (Male
& Female), Mens Basketball, Chairball and Tug of War.
After the sports events, performances from AIT & NIDA
students will take place, followed by dinner hosted by
NIDA Students Union.

SPECIAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY

A special general assembly was called on 11th May


2016 at Korea House from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The
main purpose of this general assembly was to
approve the accounts of January 2016 semester
and hand over the student union to the August
2016 committee. Accounts for January 2016 was
presented by SU Treasurer Miss. Shristika Prasai
and approved by the majority vote of GA members.
Then certificates were presented to GA members
appreciating the services rendered by them to
make the works of student union a success. As the
final item in the agenda, the student union was
officially handed over to the committee of August
2016 Then the meeting was adjourned with a
group photo of all SU team members along with
the GA members.
