House Bill 5511 aims to strengthen the autonomy of the local government units and accelerate the economic and social growth and development of the region. The MIMAROPA Region shall include Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. It shall also include cities of Calapan and Puerto Princesa. The act shall also pursue programs consistent with national goals for accelerated social and economic development and to enhance intergovernmental relations for efficient and effective delivery of services. The creation of the MIMAROPA region also hopes to promote a more equitable distribution of opportunities, income and wealth. It shall also ensure a sustainable increase in the amount of goods and services for the benefit of the people. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) shall formulate and disseminate the necessary rules and regulations once the Act is signed into law.
