ample, research subjects or experiments.

Look through various resources (industry websites, newspapers,
job boards, list serves, the transfer center and internship center on
campus, etc) to find what might be your perfect match. You should have
a list of somewhere between 4 12 possibilities. Learn what you can
about these entities through the secondary sources: $, focus, environment, how competitive, how many people are there, work expectations,
samples of work completed, ... what else is important to you?
Collect your findings and organize them in a notebook by entity (school
or company/organization) + printouts of what you learned about them
through secondary research.
Primary Research (also called field research)
involves the collection of data that does not already exist. This can be
through numerous forms, including questionnaires and telephone
interviews amongst others.
Prepare for this research by making a list of questions you have. What
is important for you to know? Statistically, the #1 most important quality of a school or job is ... location. List questions that will uncover the
answers you need to know.
Primary Research do it.
Call or email a business or school that you found interesting from your
secondary research. You may contact a secretary or counselor in some
cases, but you are required to contact at least two designers (studio) or
one faculty member and one student (school). For those looking for new
clients, you will interview 2 potential clients who are not relatives of
yours. Take notes on your conversation or print out email exchanges to
turn in with your final notebook.
How Many?
You will need a minimum of three full profiles. This includes the secondary research + primary research + overall summary/opinion on
how you fit in/dont fit in. These are the ingredients for each profile.
Due Oct 10th list of questions.
Due October 17th notebook of research findings/report
