Report on the Clinic Remodelling and Extension Project Air Balancing.

Find attached the air balancing sheet for the AHU-C2 as measured against the designed data.
The total supply airflow measured in CFM is less compare to the total design airflow while
the return airflow is not returning back to the AHU as needed.

1. ACTIVITIES
a. The supply airflows were measured and recorded. Proximity in reading is
noticed from the areas nearer to the AHU but the farther we go, the more the
difference.
b. The return airflows were insignificant in the cause of the measurement, we
then observed that the RAF (return air fan) is not working to assist the return
by the AHU.
c. We observed the RAF and noticed that the VFD controlling the RAF (return
air fan) is powered but not controlling the RAF.
d. We disconnect the VFD from the RAF, and adjusted the belt on the RAF
motor then powered the RAF directly from the gear switch. For the RAF to
run without modulating.
e.

We observed a noticeable return airflow between 50CFM-100CFM in areas

closer to the AHU but as one goes farther the return airflow become
negligible.

2. OBSERVATIONS
a. The VFD is not modulating the RAF.
b. After the RAF is directly powered there is more return air to the AHU, and in turn
there is exchange/movement of air in the building space, more supply airflow and a
noticeable cooling.
c. The total supply airflow is less compared to design airflow.

3. ACTION ITEMS
a. There is need to ensure the VFD works and modulates the RAF.
b. There is needed to get more supply air to the building as the supply air is less to what
is designed.
c. There is need to ensure adequate return air back to the AHU for re-circulation.
