In todays scenario, decision making has become multifaceted and complicated. It thus has become
imperative to identify the research problems with the objective of creating knowledge for the benefit of
business, economy and society at large.
Researchers at times, find themselves technically constrained while promoting research due to lack of
understanding of statistical analysis and techniques. So, there is a need of developing an understanding
in designing and carrying out research that can better equip faculty to effectively guide their own
research and students research work and dissertation.
This FDP focuses on the procedure to do research. As a researcher it is mandatory for one to know the
basics, in order to satisfy the purpose of research and establish an acceptable conclusion.
This FDP aims to impart knowledge on Research Methodology, Hypothesis Testing, Correlation &
Regression, Measures of Central Tendency, Measures of Variability, Measures of Shape, Descriptive
Statistics, Probability Distributions, Parametric & Non Parametric tests, Time-series analysis, Literature
Review, Citation, Referencing Styles, and Ways to avoid Plagiarism etc.
OBJECTIVES
The objective of the FDP is to help participants to gain basic understanding of research methodology
and their utility within related areas as a means of summarizing data, making estimates and testing
hypothesis. Participants will learn concepts related to sample statistics and how to make inferences
about populations from the same. They will gain quantitative literacy related to basic statistics and learn
basics related to research methodology.
PEDAGOGY
Application of concepts will be through class-room discussions, live software training, exercises and
lectures.
GTU CERTIFICATE
All participants of the FDP on BASICS OF RESEARCH METHODOLOGY will be awarded a GTU
CGS & CFS certificate on successful completion of the programme.

earned diploma in computer application (DCA) from Gujarat University. She has accomplished
a certificate course in SPSS from Department of Statistics, S.P. University. She has cleared
NET in Management and GSLET in Commerce. She is a strong believer in discipline, which
is clearly reflected by varied courses undertaken by her in a short span, thus, truly providing
herself as a versatile academician. Dr. Brahmbhatt has authored four books on management
and has to her credit 80 papers in several major international and national referred journals;
few research papers have received best research paper awards. She has also attended AICTE
sponsored FDP organized by NITIE, Mumbai and capacity building program organized by
ICSSR at Udaipur. For her services to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, she has been felicitated by
award/shawl by Shri S.S. Khandwawala, IPS (Director General of police, Gujarat). She has
special expertise in data analysis and statistical methods. She has been actively involved in
teaching and training research scholars at KCG-Knowledge Consortium of Gujarat, GNLUGandhinagar, NIFT-Gandhinagar, ASC-GU and centres of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. Her
current area of research interest is service quality, banking and other financial services and
strategic management. She can be reached on mamtabrahmbhatt23@gmail.com.
