Topic: The Cat and The rat
Introduction: This lesson focuses on reading. Pupils get to read what
they see on the board. There should be a lot of
encouragement for pupils to read and understand.
Teacher’s role is to guide pupils to be able to identify and
distinguish the initial sounds in a single syllable words.
Content Standard: 2.1 Pupils will be able to apply knowledge of sounds of
letters to recognize words in linear and non linear texts.
Learning Standards: 2.1.1 Able to identify and distinguish the shapes of the

letters in the alphabet.

2.1.3 Able to blend two to four phonemes into recognizable

words and read them aloud


Objectives: By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to distinguish
the sounds of the phoneme /k/ , /r/ and /a/
