Certain countries are subject to national codes and not ASME codes. They will not be able to obtain/use
ASME stamped valves. Valves which are identical to ASME designs are recognized as acceptable. Other
valves should be tested in a manner similar to ASME, usually the national code is sufficient. If the
performance does not meet a Kd = 0.95 for a spring loaded valve, the quality of the design is suspect and
the Owners Engineer should coordinate appropriate reviews.
