Prevention:
Use a new condom every time you have sex
Tell your sexual partners if you have HIV
Use a clean needle
Consider male circumcision
Dont have more than one sex partner
Symptoms:
Greenish yellow or whitish discharge from the penis.
Burning when urinating.
Burning in the throat (due to oral sex)
Painful or swollen testicles.
Swollen glands in the throat (due to oral sex)
Testing:
They can take a sample of fluid from the symptomatic
area or blood and add a stain to the sample and examine it under a
microscope. If cells react to the stain, the person most likely has a
gonorrhea infection.
Treatment:
Dual therapy, or using two drugs, to treat gonorrhea - a
single dose of 250mg of intramuscular ceftriaxone AND 1g of oral
azithromycin.
